But did he eat American made food? He's trying to help the farmers to develop Midwest recruiting relationships.
Its only unfair if he ate food made in an SEC or ACC state. That would be an unfair recruiting advantage, and the NCAA must step in immediately and BAN such unfair practices, for the good of the athlete, and the good of the game.
In other news, MSU's Mike Dantonio was quoted as saying, "I donated all my khaki pants to Goodwill Industries". Good for you, Mike. I'm sure Goodwill can clean up those soiled pants and get them to a needy Spartan fan ....
I've written off Dantonio once before, and boy was I wrong. He's one tough SOB, judging by the results on the football field.
Harbaugh has one big advantage, however. Dantonio is 60 and Harbaugh is 52. As a 63 year old, I know that that is a big difference. And that age difference in reflected in the approaches of the two coaches. Dantonio is too old for the stuff Harbaugh is using to make Michigan a national power again.
The Meyer - Harbaugh matchup is more intriguing, as they are about the same age. The difference is that Meyer has never been in the NFL, as a player or coach. So he is really an amateur compared to Harbaugh. But Meyer is a genius. So this is a matchup for the ages.
Dantonio easily takes the Harbaugh bait. urban? Not so much.
Watching the sports guys covering and commenting on Danotnio's takes on HARBAUGH!!! is much more entertaining. meyer is way too smart to throw gasoline on the fire.
Bottom line, M fans can make fun of both of them but it's meaningless until M wins games and sustains an advantage.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.
Urbs just doesn't get into those amateurish shenanigans. If he talks about other coaches, but typically in a positive way. He talks about Alabama and The Nick as the platinum standard. Zach Smith, the WR coach, will occasionally do it, but I think Urbs has even shut him down.
I don't think he likes Dantonio at all. But the most he ever said about Dantonio was the thing about how idiotic the "gentlemen's agreement" was...and that hit Dantonio more tangentially--it also hit Bielema.
I'm not sure what he thinks of HARBAUGH!!!!
In any event, I really don't care if Urbs is a passive aggressive subtweeting asshole, a confrontational in your face asshole, a silent asshole or a nice guy. If he's winning you can call him anything you want!
Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]? Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.
Both coaches are great coaches, but Urban has a local talent advantage and a huge head start in winning that is paying off on the recruiting trail with Alabama-like classes. Harbaugh is going to face a huge challenge breaking even with OSU point forward.
MSU, on the other hand -- he's got to start kicking the shit out of them. Starting with the game in East Lansing this year, and then he's got to shut them out of the pipeline 9.
Urbs just doesn't get into those amateurish shenanigans........
Above the fray, eh? I've heard that before but applicable elsewhere. Heh.
Anyway, my sense is JH's "passion" for the game and the way he expresses it is highly calculated. There was a point I just thought he was a loud mouth but I think he learned how to create a news story that suited his purposes while he was at San Francisco.
I think the evidence is pretty strong that he's tried to change the recruiting landscape for M. There's certainly been some resistance, maybe call it objection to his methods, and that's created news. Dantonio has made some silly news for himself by speaking negatively about HARBAUGH!!!. Meyer has been smart to just stay out of it.
How Harbaugh coaches, his intensity on the field, is nothing new. He's had a rep for being hard on his players, demanding. At the NFL level, players either hated him or loved him. There was no in between. At the collegiate level, his style, and there are plenty of others at his level that use the same motivational techniques, can be pretty effective.

1. I certainly agree that JH is calculated.
2. I don't think any of his "novel" efforts at recruiting matter other than hiring HS coaches.
3. JH makes plenty of "silly" news....it's sort of in the eye of the beholder...I've already forgotten what "silly" news Dantonio made and I actually pay attention...so, umm, yeah...the "news" aspect is hogwash....
4. UFM has zero need or inclination to engage anyone's silliness.
5. JH has a good track record. I don't doubt that the M program will improve considerably.

Calling Harbaugh a young 52 would not be overstated, thought Dantonio looks good for 60 (he's that old already) or maybe I'm just getting old ☺
Nick Saban recently complained SEC coach's are now using his age against him on the recruiting trail. Don't see that working (yet) probably Saban just getting out in front of it early.
They shouldn't have to revisit it. If they wouldn't have resorted to a silly knee-jerk reaction to protect their golden haired child, the SEC, .. they wouldn't be in this situation.
Maybe people who actually have cogent thoughts will decide the matter, but I won't hold my breath.
