I think the Rose says way more about Iowa than it does Stanford. Stanford lost to Oregon at home. They needed a small miracle to beat ND at home. Their shit defense couldn't stop either team. If OSU had to play Stanford in the CFP then I'd be making plans for the title game.

Ohio State would have been much better off losing to IU and beating MSU.
I think Alabama has been the best team in the country since the middle of the season, but Ol' Miss had them eliminated if not for Arkansas being able to pull that game out of their ass.I feel like I am watching the destruction of our democracy while my neighbors and friends cheer it on

Also, if you stb and lose a game you shouldn't have, doing that in September is different than in November. If the Buckeyes had lost in Sept, I think the groundswell of support to put them in over OU would have been much greater."The problem with quotes on the Internet is that it is sometimes hard to verify their authenticity." -Abraham Lincoln

If OSU had played us on NYD instead of Nov. 28th it would have been MUCH different! By season's end M's lack of depth, multiple injuries, exhaustion after 2 difficult road games had them running on fumes by the end of November. IOW, M is not yet a complete team but when have all the available components running at top form they can still be a challenge for anybody. I'm not saying OSU was not the better team, but the difference is marginal. Michigan's biggest problem was a lack of top tier performers and depth at several critical positions. And just think what would have happened if Ruddock had gone down.
That is all going to change in the years ahead.

Bama would've been in over Oklahoma imo, deservingly so...
I'm just waiting for the year when all five conference champions have less than two losses, could add Notre Dame to the mix too.
If you say impossible, we were REALLY close this season. Pac 12 (Stanford) and ND only had two losses.

Ohio State needed Virginia Tech to be really good if they wanted to have any chance to claim a spot in the CFP over Sparty...
Having the Gophers and Illini OOD didn't help, if they could've played Iowa instead of Illinois their resume might've been good enough. OSU just lost the most critical game of the season and didn't have any other chances to show how good they might be.

I still say if you moved Ohio State's MSU loss to September, and the Buckeye's reeled off 9 straight wins (or whatever) and beat up a good M team to end the season, as defending national champions, there would be a push for them to be in the CFP."The problem with quotes on the Internet is that it is sometimes hard to verify their authenticity." -Abraham Lincoln
