  • Someone declined Durkin's offer. Was it Partridge?

    • Appears that's correct, Rocky. Key context.

      • Partridge could move back to his previous job as recruiting director, can't he?

Yes he can and will if there is no other coaching attrition to the NFL or other programs.

              • They're going to find something for him to do.

He wouldn't have turned down Durkin unless he had something in his pocket back at Michigan.

                  • I'm sure it's Mattison level cash, otherwise you're probably looking at a string of one and dones. I would think Harbaugh puts some weight on the stability of the coaching staff.

                    • Harbaugh took less so he could pay his assistants more, so...

                      • I'm sure it is SEC style cash, Durkin was making a lot and Harbaugh hired something he said was better than Durkin.

                        • My understanding is that JH's position is that he wants to keep Partridge. He wants to add him to the coaching staff (now holding a recruiting position within the AD) but has to see which coache(s) is/are going to head back to the NFL or another CFB gig (much less likely).

Fisch, Jackson or Zordich are the three likely candidates because they are all from the NFL/ Fisch is the most likely not because he's not happy right where he is but because of his contract situation with the NFL, Jacksonville Jaguars - he's getting paid but that stops at the end of the regular season. He'll either renegotiate with M or go to back to the NFL.

His situation is interesting. As Passing Game Coordinator he did a terrific job developing M's receivers. I would think that if he can get a decent contract offer from M, he'd stay. Not sure the NFL is going to come calling with a coordinator position as he got fired from the Jags but you never know.

If it's not Fisch to leave, I have no idea about the other two guys I listed or any other coach, say, Jay Harbaugh, for example.

That's what I took it as initially too. (Partridge) I've expected attrition from the coaching staff to possibly head back to the NFL and Partridge is in line to be promoted.

                            • Reuben Jones playing LB in bowl practices, potentially a temporary measure through next season as the LB depth chart is really thin.

Interesting ...... looks like Mattison figured out his boys got tired and/or Bolden got jobbed so many times v. osu, its time to look at someone else!

Better rotation is probably the reason though. Bolden is Bolden, not bad but not great.
