        Apologies -- I read his wikipedia page incorrectly. So actually he could perhaps be a guy who might want one more crack at an HC job and perhaps see the viz he'll get at Michigan as a way to do it.

          I doubt it given his age. I hope he spends a solid 5 years in AA - if he's successful. He was the head coach at UMass from 2004-2008. UMass went to the FCS title game in 2006 and finished the season 13-2.

            From his wikipedia page it looks like Maryland had to buy out his contract so he could be DC there. So perhaps he doesn't want to be an HC again. With the success he had at UMass, you'd think if he wanted the top spot he could have it somewhere.

              Much like Talent, I knew BC had a good defense and no clue who the DC was. Only first saw his name on Maryland's list of potential HC candidates.

                  Maybe he just likes the idea of working with the talent that Michigan is assembling, and also the staff that Harbaugh has put together.

                      I'm sure he got a sizable increase in salary. Plus from BC to Michigan, that is a gimme move even if he didn't get the cash. It made a lot more sense than that Stanford DC, he's looking to move up to be a head man.
