Who M really misses is McGary, he'd have M near the very top of the B10 even with the injuries to LeVert, Spike & Walton.

I'd argue Trey Burke, certainly as a college basketball player... McGary I felt was going to dominate CBB if he were healthy, sad we got to see so very little of him as a Wolverine and was barely healthy when we did see him...
After them, you have Jamal Crawford who played about a dozen games for M, Nik Stauskus and not much else. Best players only play 1-2 years in CBB, all the above were probably ready to move on but what disturbs me is the non lottery types leaving CBB for the NBA to be drafted in the 2nd round...
It really hurts CBB and 'connection' you have with the team when you have so many players who leave early only to be drafted in the 2nd round and spend their Jr/Sr seasons on an NBA bench, D-League.

Burke>Stauskas>others including McGary. McGary unfortunately is made of glass. He hasn't played a healthy season in at least four years. I doubt he would have stayed healthy here. Now it's in the past, and it's all part of the legend. Just a fucking crying shame that Louisville game didn't turn out. That shoulda been ours.

Not sure if it's posted anywhere else here but GRIII was cut by Minny. That decision sure looks even shittier now.F#*K OHIO!!!
You're not only an amazingly beautiful man, but you're the greatest football mind to ever exist. <-- Jeffy Shittypants actually posted this. I knew he was in love with me.

As everyone said at the time, he needed another year to develop his many shortcomings. GR3 hated playing the '4' and would've been the '4' again this season. Still, I was hoping he could have a breakout type season for M this season...
In the NBA if you don't have a 1st round guarantee, you probably should stay in school to improve your draft stock. The difference for GR3 might've been a guaranteed rookie contract (3-years at ~$1mil to $1.4mil) in this years class, instead he'll have an 'extra' year of pro earnings as a 2nd round draft pick but at the expense of potentially bouncing back and forth between the NBA, Development and European Leagues the next few seasons.

In the end, he won't even have an extra year, unless he plays until he's too old, which is highly unlikely, to say the least. It was a terrible decision to leave early. Terrible.
Turns out the NBA might be looking at a little bit more than measurables when they draft and they don't want to give you a paycheck while you spend a few years developing basic stuff that most guys learn during their four years in college. You should stay if your game is unpolished and you can improve your draft stock by coming back. The only type of guy who benefits from leaving earlier than that is a guy who plays until his body gives out, whiich means that that first year added to his long term earnings. Most guys don't do that though. Most guys have a career that ends before they are too old to play.
We'll be saying the same thing about Funchess in a few years, tops.Last edited by Hannibal; March 6, 2015, 08:29 AM.

Don't know how he can rise, when he's not playing.
I'm sad to hear that GRIII isn't doing well in the NBA. These kids listen to people who blow smoke up their behinds, and end up getting nowhere.
This whole early entry process needs to change. Not sure what the answer is, but the current system sucks."The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, .. I'd worn them for weeks, and they needed the air"

While most bracketology experts are breaking down the field heading into Selection Sunday, espn.com's Jeff Goodman looked ahead a year, to the 2016 tournament.
He projects U-M to have a major bounce-back season and get a No. 4 seed in next year's tournament. All but one player is slated to return from the Wolverines' young roster.
"This one hinges on whether Caris LeVert returns to Ann Arbor," Goodman wrote. "Due to the injury, I'm going to take a stab that he comes back for his senior year. With LeVert and Derrick Walton Jr. healthy, and Zak Irvin and Spike Albrecht in the fold as veterans, John Beilein should have the Wolverines nationally relevant again. Big men Mark Donnal and Ricky Doyle should be much further along after a year of playing time."
I personally would be disappointed with a 4 seed if LeVert's back. If LeVert's back, and Beilein can get things gelling and compensate for the defense and rebounding like he has in the past, this is ae elite team and a Final Four candidate. A three-guard rotation of Walton, Albrecht and Rahkman next year would be exceptional, and competition on the wing should be friggin insane between LeVert, Irvin, Dawkins, Chatman and Robinson. Another year of conditioning for Doyle, and hopefully some learning on D. Donnal should be a competent backup.
If only Beilein was stockpiling bigs like he does wings...
