Fuck Rutgers is terrible. How'd they beat Wisky, even without Kaminsky. This would have been a bad loss even without Levert.

Really? I've been assuming that Rutgers is not terrible, and that this counts as a good win and not a bad loss averted. Didn't they beat someone else too?
Looks like Walton stepped up at the right time. It's gotta be his team from now on. I know why Beilein's used Spike as a security blanket last year and this, but IMO Walton has to own the team for it to play its best.

That was a nice win tonight. Again playing with Doyle sick and Irvin getting in quick foul trouble. I'm liking that Dawkins and MAAR are stepping it up and Max was a positive.
Rutgers isn't very good but you look at who Michigan had out there for most of the game and can't really say that we've got much on paper these days either. Plus, a road win and one where they had to chase down a late lead by the home team.
Regarding Dakich- That's the first I've ever heard of a guy on partial-scholarship being able to be red-shirted. I kind of wonder why they were doing it in the first place but I guess he is technically the 4th PG on the depth chart so maybe Coach Beilein thought he could be a C.J. Lee or David Meritt-type by his 5th year.
Saturday will probably be very humbling but I'll be watching and hoping for the upset!

I didn't see 4 more wins on the schedule 4 wins ago. They've been the scrappy underdog since B1G play started. Winning every game by one or two buckets and getting destroyed in the losses.
Their best weapon seems to be that almost every team they play seems to take them for granted, and at some point careless mistakes cost them the game.
An NIT invite is definitely within reach. They can squeak out a few more wins.Last edited by Kstat; January 21, 2015, 10:20 AM.

I think those wins were possible to spot in advance because they came against the five worst teams in the conference. Five wins against teams with a combined record of 6-24.
We'll see what happens. Last year's team came together only after McGary was announced as done for the season. Losing LeVert could be a similar catalyst for some prideful play. Hustle points have gone from aftherthought to necessity.

I hate to say it, but I've been thinking of what might have been if Beilein fed the post twice a half. It's a truism that you get that ball to the big man for some shots and then he rewards you in all other facets. Maybe we'd still have Horford right now. That'd be HUGE.
I agree to an extent about injuries. I think with Walton, though, he'd be more active but Beilein needs to let him take possession of the offense. Hard to do with Spike around.
