  • As pointed out by a poster at mgoblog, the 1989 national champion team lost to a division II school. But today's loss was clearly more embarrassing and worse.

We simply are pointing out it is not the end of the season or something to start a tar and pitchfork crowd over.

      • Got it. Thanks oracle. I guess I should be angrier. Or something. I don't know.

        • BTW, people, I don't know where EVERYONE resides, but I had someone cancel and have an extra for the Zona game next Saturday. Row 3.

5 win Florida Atlantic once ended Oklahoma State's 81 game non-conference home win streak... #Cowboys were ranked 8th I believe

              • I get that it's just one regular season non-conference loss but still.

They just lost to the equivalent of fucking DeVry. Or the University of Phoenix Online.

NJIT was the #293 school in the country. It's utterly embarrassing. I'm getting texts from friends who don't even follow college basketball about this, and I'm way the fuck down here in fucking Dallas.

And by the way, if they're anywhere near the bubble come tournament time -- this loss could be severely damaging. There are media outlets already calling this the upset of the year. It won't be forgotten.

                • Of course it's friends who don't follow college basketball. Makes the most sense.

                  • It probably knocks us down a seed. Bummer. But hey - last year at this time our signature win was Stanford or WVA or whatever. We'd lost to Iowa State and Arizona, and the offense had yet to really gel. I don't expect to buzzsaw through the conference just like last year, but I bet we get through conference play with 4 losses, five at the most. We don't travel to Wisconsin, Nebraska or Iowa. That leaves road games against likely ranked opponents only in EL and Columbus, maybe Minnesota. Frankly I think we can beat MSU in their building again. They're just a bully we're no longer afraid of.

IMO we're looking at another 3/4-seed type of year. Might have had a shot at something better without this loss and some slightly better luck against Villanova, but that's the breaks. Still on track for the Sweet 16. It sure would be great though to get a 3 seed. Bribetucky, Duke and a few others look like 1 seeds that would destroy us. Or maybe we have a NJIT-like shooting night at the right time and knock off one of those. You never know...

Well they follow sports in general, but aren't really fans of college basketball. But since all the major sports media outlets are telling everybody how monumental of an upset it is -- I'm getting my balls busted in full force now.

CBS Sports is already deeming it as the upset of 2015.

I just really hope they aren't anywhere near that bubble come bracket time. Because if they are, a loss like this could (and should) keep them out.

                        • They might have to beat Arizona just to get back into the top 25. This was the equivalent to dropping 4-5 straight in the B1G.

                              • There's plenty of NCAA teams that don't look like a Sweet 16 team the last week of the regular season and make the Final Four. I'm not willing to say that about any team in early December.
