  • If the refs are going to continue to call tight games then maybe a 10-man rotation is the way to go. We certainly have depth.

Luckily Michigan does have the luxury to go to Donnal in games like vs Purdue or vs teams with a lot of size.
Doyle and Wilson won't be able to guard Purdue's centers for 40 minutes.

      • Yeah - Im totally relieved there's an extremely soft guy who hates contact we can send out there whenever we need the exact opposite.

        • Catching up tonight. Just watched the Northern Michigan game, starting Elon now. Not too impressed with the NMU game. Bad defense. Offense still clunky. Dawkins exciting though. So obvious what a jolt of athleticism can do out there. Beilein has to stop pretending like he's RichRod when it comes to defense, though.

          • You know, for all the sacrifices made on defense in order to have that offense run like Beilein wants it to, I'm just underwhelmed by the end result. It'll be interesting to see what areas of improvement are most pronounced from here to January.

            • Excited about Wilson. If he can learn and be a smart defensive anchor, he might be an incredibly important player.

              • What do you you all make of Chatman? A rare Beilein miss? He did go to something like 5 high schools in 4 years, right? And played against some inferior competition. It's not like Beilein to poorly scout a player. He just looks like a guy lower four-star caliber player rather than a top-30 type. For the kind of game he has, it shouldn't take this long.

                • If Chatman was better at knocking down outside shots, he could be really good.

He had some open opportunities in the last 3 games.

                  • Better in the second half against Elon. I have a good feeling about Wagner. Not a major contributor this year, but next year and on -- could be a player.

Might as well try Donnal at the 4. If that doesn't fly, he's your emergency big.

                    • Chatman wasn't too athletic for a three but he always found ways to score in high school, AAU. Transition to college level is going to be longer than we expected.

                      • The No. 24 Michigan basketball team operates under a different scoreboard, and that one has Irvin and Wagner as two of the team’s top contributors

This kinda sounds like how Harbaugh makes every little thing a competition so he can rank the kids according to effort.

You expect a long gestation process for a guy who is all athlete/no skills. This is the reverse scenario. He's all skills, not much athlete. I'm not sure what to expect. Last year didn't come with too many flashes of potential to complement the mostly ineffective moments. But neither did he look just completely unable, like Donnal does. He just looks like he's not a guy who can do this at this level.

                          • It's a long season and Michigan is right in it in this game, and in truth Xavier's had 3 or 4 prayers answered after tossing up random shit, but overall we're right back to last year's default in which our technicians get punked by their hustlers. That thug they're playing at C has only one foul and drawn about 7. And, ultimately, you can't blame the refs. Michigan plays passive and Xavier attacks the basket.

                            • I was unimpressed with UM's first half. A mediocre team. I am wondering if they have already reached their pinnacle under Belein. Bad defense, bad rebounding, prone to dumb mistakes.

                              • This year is a show-me year. He has a team laden with upperclassmen, he has NBA talent. He doesn't have enough talent at the 5, but he could have done something about that and hasn't.
