  • No idea what the spread will be Tuesday, guessing OSU by 7-8, but OSU is the LOCK OF THE CENTURY.

    • Nice comeback today after a really ugly stretch. The 1-3-1 and Walton's play were keys in the 2nd half.

I'll take any win from these guys right now.

p.s.- Loved the throwbacks but don't get why the block M on the shorts wasn't yellow. I'm pretty sure it was, back in the day.

      • It looks like a yellow M here and here

        but maybe not here

Sorry to include one of Rice's easier scores but the images were attached.

Also, it looks like the numbers on the chest were lower then, as opposed to today.

        • No doubt about it -- adidas can't even copy something correctly. I like, a lot, how Brian at mgoblog has taken to referring to them as the only incompetent Germans.

          • Frustrating -- I couldn't watch, so was going to hit this up on replay, and then forgot and accidentally visited mgoblog, so the result was spoiled. I'm not surprised at all they can't shoot for shit. They're getting a fraction of the open looks they're used to now, so it's easy to rush the ones you do get in that scenario. And the confidence has to be shaken. They've spent the whole offseason believing in themselves as an offensive juggernaut and now have to go out there and play knowing that's not the case. What other hooks are available on the metaphorical wall on which they can hang their hats now? Dunno. Not looking forward to OSU tho. And that friggin sucks to say.

I like that Beilein's starting to junk it up on defense. Generally I'm with Sheed on zones, but you can't discount what they can offer, especially if you can be effective with them as a change-up. Overall I'm not sure what he's gonna take away from this year. He's got to do something about this long-term tho. As it stands his system appears to require a massive talent advantage over the rest of the conference in order to thrive. Take a look at MSU's roster (12th on kenpom) and try to spot the NBA prospects in comparison to Michigan's (69th). Pretty damn stark.

Re Doyle rebounding -- well we've talked about how Beilein wants the guards to get the boards because he thinks that's faster than outlet passes for getting the ball up the court. Whilst I agree that Michigan should score in transition whenever possible, overall the team gets owned on the glass by all but a few teams each year and it's gotta stop. I feel like every time Beilein's got to make a judgement call he sides with what helps the offense rather than what helps the defense.

Anyhow, I'll watch this as soon as its up. Glad we won. Still plenty of time to slowly grind out a reasonable conference performance and salvage some of this season.

            • Those throwbacks from yesterday were so far off that I didn't even know what they were supposed to be at first. They wore much better ones 5 years ago for the 20th anniversery of the '89 team. Those looked good. Yesterday's uniforms were shit on a stick.

                  • Depends on attrition and if they fill all the scholarships, he's a scholarship player till there isn't room I'd guess.

                    • Jeezus, shitty crowd and we can't take advantage at all. Like I said earlier in the week, OSU was a LOCK.

                      • Finesse-team bullshit. Can't rebound, can't hustle. I was too early in giving up my concerns about Beilein. The system as it is requires 2 NBA first-rounders if it's going to overcome its flaws. It requires a major talent gap. Beilein's solution seems to be a few obviously four-year guys. My solution would be to FUCKING REBOUND AND HUSTLE.

                          • ``Something is holding this team back'', Beilein said at halftime to the sideline reporter, but he doesn't know what it is.

I KNOW WHAT THE FUCK IT IS.

Well, let's see what happens here. Game could be very well be over in the first few minutes of the second half.

                            • Fuck this. Make it a beatdown. Maybe an out-and-out humiliation might wake Beilein up. If you're going to ignore the tried-and-true, you'd better be damn good at what you choose to do instead.

                              • Yes, Beilein needs a wake up call so he can trade his shitty players for better ones. Oh wait...
