The good shooters can't make a shot either. A lot of good looks that clang. Everything is a chore on offense right now and Donnal and Doyle aren't good enough defensively yet(Donnal probably never will be).
When the shots aren't falling, in the past you've seen the team, typically led by Burke, Hardaway or Stauskas, start to dig in on defense. Sometimes a little late, but they'd recognized as a group that they weren't going to be able to rely on their offense. I haven't seen that from this group so far this year. They'll loosen up and start making more shots when they prove to themselves that they can win without shooting well.

You pick your areas to be great at, yeah yeah. But Michigan's got to have an excellent 5 to anchor the defense or a shift in mentality. Right now it's a team that doesn't have a Plan B if the shots aren't falling, especially with the pick-and-roll not working.
