  • Ah, it looked like Adidas offered but IU's AD isn't a cash whore like Brand-on. From the interview with IU's AD, it really looks like they have the final say. That means this is all Pizza Boy's doing.

There has been some speculation in recent weeks that a number of college programs, including Indiana, may occasionally wear alternate jerseys with sleeves provided by Adidas. The NBA’s Golden State Warriors will be the first to wear the new uniforms ...

    • I've seen those in the stores. No way I'm buying anything in which addidas has made their own three-stripes logo as prominent as the Block M. I guess the throwback shorts from last week aren't getting sold?

I really don't mind the way Nike does it, in comparison. I think the bleed-out concept is just fine, too, although I really do respect the schools that sit out the whole concept. With ours, it just was so ridiculous to have maize numbers on the highlighter yellow background, and royal blue mixed with navy for the trim and names. addidas is just ridiculous.

      • Good for them. Respect due. That's the ideal. If we have to do it here though, just please get some grown-up designers, like Nike has.

        • I don't mind the three stripe. I think it's a still fairly subtle (one extra stripe) incorporation. If their logo were all over things, (or in the most prominent area, like when Nike started putting the swoosh right below the V cut in the neckline) that's different to me.

          • On most of their apparel the block M isn't significantly bigger than the addidas logo, like on Hoke's game-day polo shirts, etc. To each his own, but Nike just seems more skillful at this game.

            • I disagree. I think the Nike alternate designs are just as awful, if not moreso (both still trump UnderArmour, though) and I hold them more responsible since they were the trailblazer in alt jerseys and logo placement. That and the sweatshops, as well as being the first to have $100+ basketball shoes.

It is still an argument where there are no winners.

              • Well since it's aesthetics, and therefore a matter of opinion, clearly I am right and you are wrong.

                          • Today, I'm going to my first EMU home game ever. Free! I'm mostly going because I'm in a photography class right now and wanted to take some action shots where I might get up close. I almost went to the Michigan Women's game on Thursday for that reason.

There's also a curiosity factor, just to see what another place is like and how their crowd is.

                            Go Hurons!

                            • I took my kid and the neighbor's kid a few months ago. There was a Groupon. Atmosphere: quiet enough that when the lazy starting center checked in for his backup, EVERYBODY -- and by that I mean all 300 of us -- heard the backup say ``play hard now! Don't be lazy!''

                              • Well, I just got back and I have to say it was an experience. One that I accidentally participated in a bit too much.

I mistakenly yelled out "MISS!", when an Eastern player was at the FT line in the first half while the arena was quiet. I'd been taking a bunch of pictures and was looking through them when I stopped to look up. I'm not completely sure what I was thinking but I am guessing that I was just reacting to a guy wearing green and my automatic response of rooting against any green team, even though I went to EMU for a while.

He missed and coaches from the EMU bench looked back at me. I'm not sure whether they knew I was the one or not. My buddy (whose dad used to coach EMU and also got a wave "hello" from said FT shooter before the game) was stunned.
I haven't been that embarrassed in a while. It was a total Steve Bartman/"Want to get away?" moment. Luckily, they lost by more than 1. I would feel even worse than I do if that had been a more prominent moment.
