  • Hey AlabamAlum and Cody_Russell ! Did you watch the NIT final last night? It was a pretty good game. I was wondering what you thought of the two shot clock violations that were not called?

Ha! I thought they were good overall, but man, those two calls were bad, and both were big momentum changers. The first one was in the middle of a UAB run. UNT got the rebound and hit a three from the top of the key. The second pretty much iced the game. In real time they were both "Holy shit! That was a shot clock violation!" and the replay showed it was and really wasn't even close.
It turns out that they can't go to the tape unless the ball goes in? What kind of fucking rule is that?

I didn't have a dog in the fight either way, but I think UAB got a raw deal

Ha! As I said overall they were good.

That quote works for the fucking announcing team, though. Jesus they were bad.

              • The Iowa-SC women’s game was as good or better than anything you’ll see today.

                • I regret not watching it. Was planning on doing so all week, but forgot.

Seems to be reminiscent of when Wisconsin defeated that legendary Kentucky team in 2015. Though Frank the Tank is no Caitlyn Clark.

                  • It was quite a matchup. SC is so fucking big. And in the women's game, height has, well, a heightened importance since the don't jump the same. But Clark was like obviously the best player ont he court -- a court with several pros on it, I guess. But what was really weird looking was that Iowa was daring some SC to shoot -- Clark would play off 15 feet and give her player an uncontest 17-footer. Iowa was packing in like 4 into roughly a 8-ft radiius around the hoop trying to manage their height disadvantage. Meanwhile, SC was contesting the shit out of everything at the 3-pt line so Iowa was able to slip a bunch of rolls to rim for easy buckets. Really fascinating matchup witih such obvious strengths and weaknesses.

Anyway, I guess AA is now an LSU fan.

                    • As a general rule, the only chick sports I will occasionally watch are gymnastics, volleyball, and softball. Sounds like I missed a decent game. Went with friends to see Wick 4.

But, chick sports or not, if they have an SEC school’s name on their shirts (other than Alabama, of course), I’m pulling for the opposition. My hatred for SEC teams not named Alabama is pure and strong. The enemy of my enemy is my friend and this incestuous “Rah! Rah! for my conference mates!” horseshit that I see others engage in is sickening.

I wouldn't walk across the street to see a regular season women's game, but the intensity of the tourney makes these games worth watch. That was a great game yesterday. Not only did SC have the height advantage, but over all had much better athletes, until you get to Clark. Holy shit, she is a special player.

As I was watching I commented to my wife, that the women's game is much more team oriented. They pass to the open player and move the ball for a good shot, regardless of who takes it. There is very little "dribble until I can get my shot" and I don't think I saw a selfish play all game. It is really old school team basketball.

Clark put up 40 and even though, she is the go-to it was all within the offense/transition. It was almost like when Jordan played. You would think he had a pretty good game and be shocked to see he put up 40. She is fun to watch

Iowa double teaming the SC big when she would get the ball on the block really gave SC fits and resulted in two pretty big turn overs in a short period.
Every time SC would try to double team Clark on the perimeter, she would beat it with a good pass to the player rolling to the basket.
It was nice to see the old school pick and rolls rather than the pick and pop that is the standard in the men's game.

Those were two very well coached teams.

                          • It is shocking how much better the girls have gotten at shooting the 3. 10-15 years ago, you would see a lot of funky mechanics on those shots but now they have the strength.

                            • South Carolina's HC Staley is a dirt bag.

                              That is all.

You got beat, Coach. Grow up. Deal with it.

And yes, throughout your presser you pranced all around the real issue that pissed you off. You got lit up for 41 points by a white girl who wasn't afraid of big, bad South Carolina.

                              Tough.

The whole game could be summed up as the inability of the coach to deal with this one scorer. Made no adjustments. And it's not like she hasn't done it before.
