  • The notion that the B10 was the best conference in college basketball this season is taking a bit of a beating so far in this tournament.

    • Rutgers beat Clemson.
      Wisconsin destroyed UNC.

If Maryland upsets UConn tomorrow and everything else holds... wouldn’t say it was that bad of a weekend. Ohio State’s loss will probably go down as the embarrassment of the tournament. Purdue’s loss was disappointing, but they are a really young squad.
First win for Rutgers in the tourney since the 1980s. Good for their fan base. Something actually positive happened.

The conference with San Diego State and Utah State was the worst. Those two teams no showed. Please stop hyping up that conference in the future....

      • The BigTen is still the best conference, but I don’t think most people thought the BigTen would be 3-3 heading into Saturday with two huge upset losses. I had them going 6-0 on my bracket - I just need Illinois to get to the championship game.

        • The overall record is what I expected but not the specific group of teams. Had Purdue and OSU easily winning and expected Wisconsin and Rutgers to lose.

          • Ohio State and Michigan State both really hacked it up down the stretch. Ohio State played their worst game of the year and, honestly, missing Kyle Young was enormous.

Purdue missed a key 1 and 1 down the stretch, too, but they were never in total control. They were never in a position where they win 90% of the time like, say, OSU and Sparty (maybe 80%).

Wisconsin, in contrast, shot the ball out of their minds. If they had played like that all year they wouldn't have finished in the middle of the conference.

Tournament basketball is weird and it's pretty tough to gage much on one round of a tournament, IMO.

            • That’s fair. I would add that the way college basketball and teams manage their rosters these days, the gap between P5 and non-P5 teams is not as wide as it used to be.

              • Typical Wisconsin.
They can play up to a great team and down to a crappy team. A few years ago, 8th or 9th seed Wisconsin knocked off #1 seed Villanova. The Villanova team sandwiched between their two championships...
Wouldn’t surprise me if Wisconsin knocks off Baylor. At the same time, it wouldn’t surprise me if Oral Roberts defeats Wisconsin in a hypothetical matchup.

Purdue didn’t show up until it was too late... no idea why Purdue looked awful in back to back OTs. vs Ohio St and vs North Texas.
Not too upset. Again, very young team and they exceeded season expectations.
Add Matt Painter to a group of coaches like Rick Barnes and Leonard Hamilton that typically chokes in March.

Not sure if Stan knows, but this Oral loss means osu has dropped 6 of their last 9

                  • Georgetown fought like Genghis Khan through the Big East tourney so I picked them as a 12-5 upset over a Pac12 team. Yeaaaaaaah. Down 23 with not much more than 10 minutes left

                    • I wasn’t surprised by the Purdue loss. IMHO Painter is a mediocre coach and I was only marginally impressed by them this year.

                        • I don’t think Shaka’s hair can save him now! Also, I had them in the Final Four. Lol. I have a feeling about 6 teams could come out of the East region.

                          • It's looking as if Michigan won't be the first #1 seed to lose after all. Sister Jean wins again, and the Big 10 tournament champ is gone.
