  • I'm sure your team will be just fine. Russell looking good so far?

I took my son to The Palestra Saturday. What a wonderful, wonderful venue. A third full and still pretty damn loud. Easy to imagine what a madhouse it would have been when packed and in its heyday. Amazed to learn that capacity is 8700k. Crisler must be three times the size in terms of physical volume, and it seats 13,751. I'll be back there this year hopefully for a Big 5 game.

    • Russell has ridiculous skills, but he still tends to play like he's playing against HS rubes. He's really good, but he's not good enough to get away with some of the stupid shit that works against HS kids. Louisville will learn him that right quick.

I'm more pleased with Shannon Scott controlling the offense and scoring from all over -- Kam Williams, Marc Loving, Diop -- why hell, Sam Thompson looks like he's even improved.

This all sort of reminds me a M in maybe 2012-13 when they breezed through the OoC scoring at will and then ran straight into the B10 woodchipper. OSU will run into trouble earlier -- Louisville and North Carolina before Christmas....but the B10 will be brutal for them, too. Overall, though, I love the talent on the team. Seeing as how UK (or possibly Duke) are mortal locks this season, I'm looking toward next season with a nice incoming class and, I think, Russell returning. This year it's fingers crossed they can grind out 11-12 B10 wins.
Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
      Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

But heavens, they actually have a few kids who can shoot and score. And Scott looks solid as a PG. Yay for early season optimism after beating trash teams!
Well they did lose Craft. Addition by subtraction.

                  • Us Spartan fans looked at Crean as an eventual successor to Izzo.

                    • No kidding. mgoblog reposted this today, which reminded me that in addition to Tom Arnold (linesman's call) and whomever JD likes to say Crean looks like (I forget but that's also a good likeness), IMO Rick Moranis should play Crean in the eventual movie:
