  • On a side note, conference schedule is why JB will get COY. Played UW, MSU and NEB twice each. Miles definitely overachieved this year, but just enough to finishe 2nd.

    • JB also managed to win every close game they were in. Looking back at the season, 15-3 was their max, and he hit it. The 3 losses were clear. And his team won every close conference game they were in, which is saying something.

Last year's team was 12-6, but was probably something like 2-3 in close games.

      • I'd disagree.. you don't from being picked 12th in the league to finishing 4th... that's extremely rare.

that's coach of the year material

        • Ok, my last comment on the subject because a.) I don't really care, b.)I really like Miles and the Neb story.

Nebraska isn't in 4th place or in the tourney if you switch schedules. Nebraska has 1 home loss this year...to who? And lost by 30 the other game. Great story, you don't give COY to a bubble team.

          • I don't care much about that award, but without question Michigan had the toughest schedule and pretty much punked everyone nonetheless.

One thing I liked about the specific way that Michigan won close games is that from the most part it played from ahead in them. Nursing a 4-6 point lead in the final three minutes is a lot better than overcoming that small kind of deficit. So, IMO, Michigan played Indiana a lot closer on the road than they did Wisconsin at home. Even though the outcome of that game was arguably in question with 3 minutes left, it wasn't really a close game.

            • oracle.. I wouldn't expect you not to support your coach.

but one last question.. switch rosters and do you think JB finishes fourth with the UNL team. I don't. jmo.

either way, I bet we both are happy with our coaches.

              • and for the record... I'm starting to enjoy a little basketball banter..

curling up in the corner has not been fun..

                    Ok, LAST comment.

This might be been during your basketball hibernation, but doing something with nothing was JB's MO before he started getting talent. Obviously, no way to know, but it wouldn't surprise me in the least.

Edit: And Nebraska doesn't have nothing. They have possibly 2-3 pros on that roster. Really young.

                      • Completely off the COY topic, but I have 6 tickets for next year's Round of 64 and 32 games in Columbus. WooooT! And the Midwest Regional is in Cleveland. And the FF is in Indy!

                        • Hopefully the sanctions don't come down too fast on your incoming recruiting class so you might get to see the Scarlet Letters lose. Nobody's fooled here. No recruits for a few years followed by an influx? In Columbus? Geez if only there were some sort of reasonable explanation!

Worthless to me. If you come across any for the Anaheim regional this year, we're on to something.

Agree. I see the argument the other way too...COY is usually a reflection of great accomplishment, which winning the league is. That said, NU isn't your typical bubble team. Like you said, this squad was picked to finish dead fucking last and is one bucket away from being undefeated at home with wins over Michigan, Michigan State, Wisconsin and Ohio State.

Michigan is having a great year, after having had a great year in 2013. Not really much of a stretch to go from losing in the finals to be really good again. JMO

                              • Also...I wish we were having this discussion in regards to football coaches. The best coaches at UM and Nebraska are on the court, not the field.
