Playing devil's advocate. UNC was ranked 20 spots ahead of West Virginia by Pomeroy. And WVA kinda sucked post-January 1st. And they got bounced 1st round of the Big12 tourney by a god-awful Colorado team. People saying a win over Gonzaga before Thanksgiving should've punched their ticket are overstating their case.Comment

-The Quad1 loss numbers are bad, but honestly of those 12: Nine were vs (AP) #1 Duke, #1 Duke, #1 Duke; #3 Florida; #4 Auburn; #7 Alabama, #8 Michigan State, #10 Louisville, and #12 Clemson. All of those games are hard to hold against them, especially since they scheduled 4 of them non-con.
So, that leaves 3 quad 1 losses to really evaluate:
Kansas
Wake
Pitt

The 22-13 Tar Heels are ranked:
#33 KenPom
#36 NET (which is effectively the Quad ranking)
#25 BPI

If instead of scheduling Alabama, Auburn, Mich State, Florida, and Kansas they had scheduled SoMiss, Central Michigan, Kennesaw State, App State, and South Alabama, they would be 27-8 and probably a 5 or 6-seed instead of the 11-seed they are.
You really can hurt yourself on both sides of the scheduling pendulum swing. Anyway, I don’t hate them being included.
