I think its mostly because the rest of the B1G has pretty much caught up with Sparty, and has figured Izzo out. He really doesn't surprise anyone anymore. His strutting and mugging along the sidelines only gets him so far. His players need to perform, and in too many cases, they're not. And he's not getting the talent he used to get.
His act is wearing thin. He's likely worked his way into "I'll leave when I'm ready" situation at MSU so I doubt they'd fire him. So, they're stuck with him until he decides to go.

Izzo did win a Championship and has a few more final four appearances but you are right. Hasn't done much with some talent and his recruiting is another matter all together. Frankly, he's been living off the cache of yesteryear. I don't thing he'll ever be back to a final four.
MSU has a similar situation with him that Michigan had with Lloyd Carr. It was fairly obvious to all that Carr needed to leave, but nobody was going to suggest that he be fired. Nobody at MSU is going to suggest that Izzo be given heave-ho. He's close to that status.
