  • Purdue losing that big center for the tourney is killer. It'll change how they have to play.

    • They’re done. They run everything through him. That’s about as big a loss as there could be. Painter has some horrible luck. Hummel tore his ACL on one of best teams.

Meanwhile, UNC is up by 23 with 35s left, gives up a 3, missed a dunk, commits a foul and gets backdoored.

      • I think you are underrating the 7'3 kid they have. He is a good player and should be pretty good with extended minutes. Have to remember as important as Haas is---he was only averaging 24 minutes a game.

            • They weren't even a decent 16 seed either, they were ranked in the 200 range in Div 1 with most computer rankings.

                • "The" Oracle and I both picked Xavier. I put it in at 19' and he put it in at 19. We're playing the same line (as the margin was 19), so I'll call it a push for both.

Yesterday I went 5-2-1, missed my lightning, got backdoored by UNC asshattery and then UC went through the front door with a late 3 to push the margin to a cover.

"The" Oracle went 1-6-1 and missed his lightning -- a pick I specifically cautioned him against and, as it turns out, told him exactly how it would end up -- Syracuse played the game in the 60s and TCU was in a lot of trouble. Suck it, "The" Oracle.

So, I'm now 10-4-2 with 1 lightning win for a total of 13 points.

"The" Oracle is sitting a 4-10-2 with 1 lightning pick for a total of 7 points.

Saturday and Sunday we'll pick 4 games for each day.

                  • Loyola +5'
                    Texas Tech -1'
                    Gonzaga -3'
                    Michigan -3' (Lightning)

I also really like URI +9'. I like Buffalo +5' enough to bet it.

If I had to pick, I'd take Villanova -11 -- I think Alabama will get sucked into a higher tempo game than their Kenpom numbers dictate and they'll end up in the 13-17 range. I'd play Over 148 in that game with some confidence. The spread, though, go get donkey punched in the final minutes.

Finally, I'd play Kansas -4'. I'm not particularly sold on them as a team, but I don't think SH is particularly good, so I see a Kansas win in the 8-10 point range.

                      • I'm think it'll be more along the lines of 85-70.

Your score suggests the under is the way to go on this game. I really think it's the over.

                          • You may be right. I am not confident enough to bet the o/u on that game either way, though.

And there are 6 SEC teams in the round of 32 - more than any other conference. It would not shock me to see the SEC go 1-5 today and tomorrow though - with 2-4 being very likely.
