  • We're in on a couple of really good guys, but we're not leading for any of them. Typical mantra is "ND is still in my top three" ... but they seem to be visiting the other two.

We feel really good about Yuri Wright, but that about all. We're still in it with Josh Garnett, but need to make up ground with Stanford. We were in great shape with Neal, but now that is cooling off...and he hasn't even visited any other schools yet...which is a flashing red light IMO.

The coup of both Armstead brothes is still a possibility, but I hear Cal has an edge on us there. We're out and/or behind on Nelson Agholor, Brian Poole, Ken Ekanem & Will Redmond.

The staff has gone out and offered 2-3 receivers in the last 10 days...stinking of plan B desperation.

At least it'll be entertaining to see the board crucify the "insider" from Vandalia...

    • So you're thinking Stanford leads for Garnett? It looks like ND is third of three for his services.

      • Michigan has completely stopped recruiting Wright. His coach didn't offer any reason as to why, but it the recruitment was stopped from Michigan's side, not Wright's.

Michigan is still feeling good about Garnett, but he has a good friend who is committed to Stanford and that could hold some sway. Garnett is also good friends with Michigan recruit Erik Magnuson, and he's been working on him as well. Garnett isn't tipping his hand, though. He's going to take his OV to Stanford, and then decide somewhere around the 24th.

Everything I hear says it's Stanford leading ND...I guess we'll see.

Not to sound too much like a conspiracy theorist...but I couldn't help noticing that ND completely stopped courting Reeves at about the same time...almost as if Kelly & Hoke had an under-the-table agreement.

                Heh heh. That's always fun.

As for Garnett, I've heard it both ways, but most recently that Stanford has an edge. Who knows.

                • The best "insider" OSU has, IMO, says Decker=Buckeye. Not a huge surprise.

We'll see what happens this weekend, but that would be a huge get for OSU.

Maybe Michigan's coaches watched the Army All-Star game.....

Oh yeah...if he visits he's gone...isn't a soul on the ND boards (which have begun their descent into full blown meltdown btw) that doesn't know that. The rumor is now circulating that he's on OSU's campus right now.

This is Meyer's MO...he's done it to us a couple of times and he does it very well. Everything just goes into stealth mode, the recruit can't be reached and the next thing you know he's in Gainsville touring with a bunch of co-eds. Meyer flipped a couple on us, the most damaging being DL recruits Justin Trattou and Omar Hunter.

I'm not bitching about the tactics btw. Kelly & Co. have pulled their fair share of snags in their time here...including a beautiful fuck-job on Penn St. last year with Ishaq Williams.

No doubt Stanford has the lead here...making it somewhat pathetic that ND & UM fans are arguing over who's #2...

...having said that, I do wonder if losing Decker might make ND a bit more attractive to Garnett.

                        • UFM is a real MFer when it comes to recruiting. I remember him "stealing" kids from OSU that everyone thought were locks -- Shariff Floyd, in particular, comes to mind. Tressel was never much up for that sort of uber-hard recruiting. In fact, I think Tressel and UFM are polar opposites when it comes to recruiting.

Well, the Trattou ghenk was a thing of beauty...but this might have it beat. The mods/admin at rivals still haven't come out with anything official, because they don't know any better...literally zero contact with any sources to either confirm or deny as much as Decker being on campus tomorrow, when in fact, there is plausible evidence that he's in Columbus right now.

For what it's worth, the Vandalia "insider" isn't giving an inch. Here's a copy & paste that is less than two hours old:

"Taylor is a good kid that may be a bit confused. If he is on a visit to OSU then it is secret to everyone that is not his family, or OSU faculty. One of his best friends did not know he was visiting, if he is actually doing that. Rampant speculation, and negative comments about this situation will only aid OSU in this recruitment."

In other words, this guy still can't believe it...and honestly if it wasn't Meyer at OSU battling for an Ohio kid...I wouldn't necessarily believe it either. There is nothing out there from either side that claims a direct quote from Decker himself...but in the end, it's a testament to UFM being a MFer in recruiting. So be it...Kelly got caught with his pants down...it happens...but it better not happen again.

                            • M insiders still confident on Garnett, upset if he goes elsewhere...

Not sure why M lost interest in Yuri Wright.

                              • Garnett will join his buddies at Michigan, looks good.

As February 1st, National Signing Day, fast approaches the Michigan Football coaches are zeroing in on the final few recruits who will round out their tremendous 2012 recruiting class. Michigan’s class is currently ranked 7th by ESPNU, 4th by rivals.com and 3rd by scout.com

There is a very real probability that Michigan will add another elite prospect to their already outstanding group of offensive linemen, Joshua Garnett.
