  • I blame the fans.

    • Yeah, they suck too. Hopefully the blood will flow back to their/our brains and prices will come back to something resembling normal. It's a head-scratcher to me that demand can be this strong for a fairly mediocre product. Over the last 5 years the team is something like 6 games over .500. You couldn't GIVE tickets away to crappy games during Carr's later years and now a conference game is like going to the fucking Super Bowl.

      • I blame the Lions too. Maybe they're coming around, I dunno, but since the mid 60s they've mostly been a good reason to follow college ball.

        • Too much demand, not enough supply for those 'big' games. Goes to show how ridiculously under priced those games were.

Even the $195 lasted a matter of seconds as one season ticket holder I know was in the process of purchasing a pair for $195 and by the time he got to the checkout they had already increased to $225 each. Dave Brandon can rot in hell as far as I'm concerned.
I have a pair for ND and I paid $65 each for my tickets. And yes, I plan on going.

However, bids start at $500 for my extra ticket...

Kelly was just testing that kid to see if he was prone to fumbling the ball...brilliant bit of coaching right there...

Clash, if you need directions for Scio let me know.
Thanks, but my family has lived off Scio for since '98. Mom lives < two blocks from your tailgate site.

Also, for anyone who is interested, my ticket cost $65. We've been season ticket holders for almost 20 years now.

For anyone who is interested, here is an interview of Swarbrick with regard to all the NCAA reform talk. He stays away from anything specific or controversial...but does discuss it from a different perspective.

I thought face value for the marquee games was $85 now. I'll be there, too, tho

Great, now we have a back up plan.

                  • $500 buys a lot of Big Macs. So does $65 for that matter.

Indeed...of all the breaks we caught last year, the least publicized in my opinion was how we were fortunate in avoiding key injuries. We had the least of any season I can remember. That's over. We've already lost more in the last two weeks of Fall camp than we did in all of last season. Outside linebacker Danny Spond, who started all 13 games last year is done with football for life. Safety Nicky Barratti (he's the one who picked Borges' ill-advised half-back pass last year as a freshman) was the favorite to win a starting spot, is done for the season. 1st in line to fill in at DE Tony Springman is gone for the season. Two year starter at OG Chris Watt is out for an undetermined amount of time with a concussion...and those are only the ones who were sure to see the field in Sept. Depth has taken a hit with a number of other worthy 2nd stringers being hurt as well.

                        • I understand he had some temporary paralysis ... not something to chance playing football again.

                          • Spond released a statement. The specifics are complicated, but the issue is fairly simple...he's at severe physical risk if he keeps getting hammered in the head. It is too bad. I feel for him. Don't know how much his loss will impact the team. Certainly the impact will be more significant for the Michigan game than it will for Stanford. Spond was an under-rated part of last season's defense. An outside linebacker who could hold the edge and was still extremely effective dropping back into coverage. Anyway, from what I'm hearing, Jaylon Smith is every bit the athlete his press clippings claimed. He was running with the 1st string at the last public practice. But there is no way he's going to grasp the position to the point that it's instinctual in the next two weeks, and at 230lbs I'm not sure he's got the physical tools to protect the corner. I expect Borges to run right at him early and often.

In other news, our top-rated recruit decommited. Apparently to stay closer to home.

And as of three hours ago, our highly-touted DE Stephon Tuitt left practice with some kind of injury. I don't think that Tuitt is as great as all the pre-season stuff is saying, but he is damn good...and certainly a loss we cannot absorb.

After one of the most satisfying seasons in memory, this shit sandwich of an off-season has been among the worst in memory...

                            ...figures.

                            • Tuitt would be a huge loss. It seems like he are Michigans lunch last year. Here's hoping for a ankle sprain that keeps him out for the Michigan game but won't effect him forever!

                              • Been thinking all off-season that M had two 'gimmie' games to play before ND and just yesterday I noticed they were the #2 game on the schedule.

Gives M many new starters less time to figure things out (& the staff less time to evaluate who can play). Notably whoever is replacing Kovacs (Wilson/Avery), the entire interior OL (Kalis, Miller & Glasgow/Bryant) and the SAM position (Gordon or Beyer) who is subbing for Jake Ryan till he's ready. Guess ND has the same situation and/or just potentially worse.
