        • Mike, you have been a true gentleman and a great source of information over the years about the Fighting Irish without being obnoxious about it. I join all the others in wishing you well and hope and pray your therapy will be successful.

          • I've been going back and forth about posting this today but, it's spread widely enough on Facebook that I think it's ok to share here.

Our friend Mike, lost the battle with cancer last night. RIP our friend.

If I see anymore information, I'll post it here.

            • Damn. I wasn't aware that it had been going that badly. Very sad news.

                • That's really, terribly sad news. SLF, it seems like you are connected to people who know him on Facebook. I hope that you can pass along our deepest sympathies to his friends and family.

Like most of us, I only know Mike from his postings here on the forum. He was the best kind of fan of an opposing team: fiercely loyal to his team but not arrogant, able to strike a balance between playful trash-talking and serious discussion. The internet would be a better place if more people were as respectfully passionate as him.

                  RIP Mike

                    • RIP, Semper Fi, Mike.

Thanks for posting, SLF. I wish I had met Mike. Had one opportunity when ND came to AA for the night game when Denard stole the show. He came to our tailgate around 6:30 but couldn't find us.

Keep in touch with your friends and loved ones. Hold them close to you. Life is short.

                              • I have changed the title of the thread to honor Mike.

I'll miss him. His insight and passion for Notre Dame was something we can all identify with. I am very sorry I never got to meet the man in person.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe he had just gotten married about 5 years ago, and his wife had a baby not long after that.
