  • Best of luck Mike; stay positive.

              • Notre Dame quarterback Everett Golson will return to the Fighting Irish in the spring, he said Saturday.

                More on Notre Dame football

Notre Dame Everything Notre Dame football, from recruiting to news to game coverage, is available from ESPN.com's Matt Fortuna in his Notre Dame football blog.
? More: ESPN Chicago's college blog

In May, the Irish suspended Golson for the 2013 season for "poor academic judgment."

"I will be returning in the spring, that's pretty much it," Golson told television station WPDE in Myrtle Beach, S.C., where he was attending a charity basketball tournament.

Golson started 11 games for the Fighting Irish last season as a redshirt freshman, leading the team to the Discover BCS National Championship, where it lost to Alabama to finish a 12-1 season.

"I've been working out, keeping my head up," Golson said. "I've had a little adversity but I've learned you can't sit down and just take that, you got to pick yourself back up and keep going forward and continue doing what you were doing and everything is going to work itself out in the end."

He completed 187 of 318 passes for 2,405 yards and 12 touchdowns with six interceptions last season. Golson also rushed for 298 yards and six scores.

                • Some miscellaneous thoughts going into fall camp…

In terms of big picture, I’ve come to accept that Kelly isn’t going to be at Notre Dame much longer. He has yet to sign a new contract. At this point I’m thinking he’ll be gone within the next two seasons. I don’t fault him at all for the Philly interview…though it was a punch in the gut following the dismantling by Alabama, but the guy’s stock was/is sky-high…and in a business where fortunes can change annually, I’ve got not issue with him using leverage while he’s got it. Either there is some irreconcilable difference(s), or he’s not going to tie himself down long-term. Swarbrick and ND aren’t going to open the checkbook unless they are assured not to get blindsided by reports of their coach interviewing with other teams. Regardless, he will be leaving the program in exponentially better shape than it’s been in two decades and has shattered all the “ND will never again…” fantasies that the na?ve loved to flout.

I’m still having trouble grasping the fact that Tommy Rees will be our starting QB in 2013…and that’s not to knock Tommy Rees. He was never advertised or claimed to be more than a 2-3 star QB who got a shot at ND as a plan B. It just seems that we end up losing out on the key players at the wrong time. Who thinks Gunner Kiel is kicking himself right now? Anyway, perhaps I shouldn’t be complaining. We’ve got a veteran QB coming back with what should be an excellent defense. That’s a typical recipe for a good season.

I’m not up-to-date on the specifics of recruiting, but it would appear that we are doing as well as anyone else in the country. Looking at the ’13 & ’14 classes, I’d say we’ve done as well, if not better, than anyone at both OL and RB. Losing Vanderdoes really hurt at DL, and we’ll need to shore that up with this class.

Anyway, I’m about to buy my tix to AA for 09/07. Who’s going to be at Scio Church?

Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

                        • Ticket prices across the board are ridiculous. Last I saw the cheapest available for ND were $350 a piece for row 90 in the endzone. No thank you.

                            • I think M's dynamic ticketing approach is going to drive StubHub prices down.

Free market at its best ...... Stub hub will collect disinterested season ticket holder's tickets and undersell M.

If M wants to optimize ticket pricing, they're going to have to stop season ticket holders from reselling thier tickets. The technology is there. It's just a matter of time.

If things go as planned, both osu and M are undefeated or have one loss, and I don't go to the osu game, I can sell a pair on StubHub for $1000, probably still a bit cheaper than M's (if available - and they wont be) paying for my season tickets and net a profit.
