If it comes, what's the general sense? Will all be forgiven?
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.
I would think/hope that if they have an agreement, it will have addressed everything. Hard for me to believe that Kelly & Swarbrick would have allowed this to become a public spectacle at such a critical time if Asst. Coach compensation was the only issue. But then we'll never really know whatever else might have been discussed as ND is private and not obligated to share contractual info.
If I had to guess, the news of Kelly's interview and subsequent outraged backlash probably gave Swarbrick all the clout he needed to tell (not ask) the BOT what was needed to fix this. Swarbrick could then put it in front of Kelly and clearly express that you'll get what you want, but don't sign unless you're committed for the long-term. Another public interview like this and we get to fire you immediately with no buy-out.
A coach can pull this ploy once, but only once. If Kelly interviews with another organization a year from now...then this whole thing will have been a failure.

Appreciated, but it looks like the content was as incorrect as the selection of language...
Apparently something somewhere broke down. I'm hearing that the relationship between Kelly and Swarbrick is terribly strained. There is a general sense that Kelly will end up being back next season, but there isn't alot of confidence that all issues will have been settled.
We're now at or past the point where I thought this would have to be resolved without doing serious damage.
I think Swarbrick needs to start 1) Negotiating with a current assistant for an interim position. 2) Perhaps interview with current OC Chuck Martin for the permanent position. 3) Reach out to other candidates. My preferred is Charlie Strong.
I think there is a real power struggle going on...more than $$$ or $$$ for staff. Nervous that it's admissions/academic, because that is the one area where Swarbrick cannot negotiate.
Regardless, for every minute this continues, Kelly will need to spend more time and effort rebuilding his own image and be able to allocate less time and effort into rebuilding the program.
Quite a kick in the nuts after a season like that...

(1) On June 24, 2011:
the yacht is currently involved in U.S. bankruptcy litigation by the principle owner Mike McGraw of Monarch Bay, California. The boat was repossessed by the primary lender in 2010 on San Diego Bay where the entire crew was fired without pay for the last 60 days. Further litigation involving Mr. McGraw is ongoing and extensive. The McGraw family was/is in the High Risk Insurance business, until the sale of their majority ownership was recorded in 2005
The yacht was named for its owners affiliation of his alumni with Notre Dame University. The University of Notre Dame has tried unsuccessfully to have the name removed from the vessel due to litigation and marketing rights.

?I don?t take vacations. I don?t get sick. I don?t observe major holidays. I?m a jackhammer.?
Kelly knows trying to get the admins to bend academic standards is a waste of time. His play has to be money. He is the first coach since Holtz to get the Domers to the title game and he makes less than half what Satan does ... a correction is in order and is coming. Would be shocked if Kelly left the Domers.
