Hi All. Been awhile. I recently got laid off so I should have some time to talk spring football. Had been putting in 80 hour weeks for the last few months trying to turn things around for this company...but just couldn't make it work. I'm looking at it as a break and opportunity.
Am just catching up on ND as well. Looks like recruiting was in the shitter until they hit the lotto 2-3 weeks ago. All the media hype on us is about the QBs...but that's not the most critical position for us. CB will make or break this team.
Will be around...

For what it's worth, my condolences to the ND Football Family on the all-too-young loss of former ND QB Blair Kiel. Just 50 years old at the time of his passing this week, what I've read about him indicates health and personal problems had haunted him in recent years, may he rest in peace.

Yep...not a total shock, but a tough loss for us. He had left early before spring break missing two spring practices to "reflect", then came back...but apparently it's not going to work out. So far everybody is saying the politically correct things.
Unofficially, it sounds like Kelly had agreed to Lynch leaving early for spring practice, but when Lynch returned and still wasn't happy, the choice was easy. As big an impact player as Lynch is/was, he can't be bigger than the team and I hear there were issues developing in the locker room.
ND boards indicate that South Florida is the likely leader for Lynch. Apparently he reached out to Florida St. and Jimbo Fisher wouldn't take his call (Lynch committed to ND, then committed to FSU, then recommitted to ND).

Big trouble in South Bend:
Notre Dame quarterback Tommy Rees and linebacker Carlo Calabrese were arrested and booked into the St. Joseph County jail early Thursday morning. Now, four charges have come down against Rees. He was preliminarily booked on a felony charge, but prosecutors say all the charges are misdemeanors.
It's news WNDU first reported.
St. Joseph County Prosecutors brought four charges against Rees shortly before 5 p.m. Friday. He faces two charges of resisting law enforcement, one count of battery to law enforcement, and one count minor consumption. All of those charges are misdemeanors.
Police were called to the home on Notre Dame Avenue due to a noise complaint. According to a source, Rees-- who does not turn 20 until May 22 -- freaked out when he saw police because he was underage and had been drinking.
South Bend police Capt. Phil Trent says Rees was among about five people who jumped a backyard fence and ran after officers arrived at the party.
According to police, Rees ran from officer Brandon Stec. Rees ran out onto Notre Dame Avenue. Police say a cab driver saw the pursuit and blocked Rees's path. They, they say Rees raised his knee into the officer, knocking the wind out of him. Officials say the cab driver then grabbed Rees and kept him from running away. When the officer tried to arrest Rees, police say Rees scuffled with him and they both fell back on the pavement. Stec sustained scrapes to the arm in the struggle.
NewsCenter 16 has also learned that Rees registered 0.11 percent on a blood-alcohol test. Calabrese's blood-alcohol test registered at 0.12 percent.
Officers say Rees continued to try and resist arrest and was maced before being taken into custody.
Calabrese was arrested for disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor, after arguing with officers. Trent says he tried to explain to police who Rees was and then twice threatened officers, saying, "My people are going to get you!"
Both were booked into the St. Joseph County jail at 12:35 a.m. Thursday.
Calabrese was released on $150 bond at 3:45 a.m. A $2,500 bond has been set for Rees. Rees has already bonded out of jail.
Classes at Notre Dame ended on Wednesday. Calabrese is wrapping up his junior year, Rees his sophomore year.
"The University is aware of this incident and is confident that it will be handled in a prompt and professional manner through the criminal justice system," Notre Dame spokesman Dennis Brown said in a statement. "Internal discipline is handled privately, in accord with our own policies and federal law."
Below is a statement from University of Notre Dame head football coach Brian Kelly:
“I am aware of last night’s incident involving two of our football players. I am of course very concerned given the nature of the allegations, but I am still gathering information. I’ll withhold judgment until I can collect all the facts and speak with both Carlo and Tommy.”
Notre Dame's discipline branch just named a new leader this week as Erin Hoffmann Harding replaces Rev. Tom Doyle as Vice President of Student Affairs. She is scheduled to start on August 1st.
The felony charge that Rees was preliminarily booked on could have resulted in suspension or expulsion from the university, if it had not been down-graded by prosecutors. The student handbook states that a felony charge by itself, without even a conviction, is reason enough for possible removal from the university:
"If a student is charged with a felony, the University, through the Office of Student Affairs or the Office of Residence Life, reserves the right to take summary action and temporarily dismiss the student. Similarly, the University may take summary action to temporarily or permanently dismiss any student convicted of a felony."
Rees has ended each of the last two seasons as the Notre Dame starting quarterback. He is in the middle of a 4-way battle to be the starter for the upcoming.
