Tough loss for the Wings today....1-0 to St. Louis. Points are at a premium now, and we're running out of time. The streak of Playoff appearances is in jeopardy.
They still control their own destiny, for what it's worth.
They are better than I thought they would be this year, but they have some obvious limitations. No reliable scoring besides Datsyuk and Zetterberg. Just making the playoffs would make this season a success. When are Helm and Samuelson getting back?
Wings cling to the last playoff spot by a point, battling Dallas, Phoenix and Columbus. Advantage Detroit, in that their last 7 game schedule is much easier than the other 3 teams.

?I don?t take vacations. I don?t get sick. I don?t observe major holidays. I?m a jackhammer.?
Penguins center Sidney Crosby, who is recovering from surgery to repair a broken jaw, spent about 35 minutes working out on the ice at Consol Energy Center with conditioning coach Mike Kadar this morning.
It is believed to be the first time Crosby has skated since his jaw was fractured by a puck 16 days ago.
James Neal, who has missed the past three games because of a concussion, also skated with Crosby and Kadar, as did defenseman Paul Martin, who is recovering from a broken hand.
Neal adjourned to the locker room shortly after Crosby, but Martin stayed on for extra work with Kadar.
Crosby appeared to be in full gear, and was wearing a plastic shield that protects his jaw, in addition to his customary visor.
There has been no timetable announced for him to return to practice or to rejoin the lineup.
None of the three is expected to participate in the Penguins' practice today.
