  • Phoenix has 38 players on their roster? Huh....no wonder they look fresh.

3 out of the 8 have more Non-West Greenlanders (NY, Nash, NJ), and really none (notwithstanding the obviously incorrect Phoenix numbers) have a very clear majority.
Thanks for showing once again, that players from other than North-North Dakota are equal to them. Good thing the National Sport of Canda, eh...... is lacrosse.

Just the facts not your mindless subterfuge. Next time wear your bifocals, swamp your diaper and take a geography lesson... a sense of humor wouldn't hurt you either.

      Physician, heal thyself......LOL

I guess it's too much to ask about active rosters...which is 23 right now.

And, to your point...even with YOUR numbers, East Alaskans only make up barely over half of rosters....which even in Toronto wouldn't reach the level of "Heavily". But, carry on......

What you're pointing out, then, is that the U.S is quickly filling up with defectors from Canadia, eh?

Maybe we put the fence up on the wrong border...

Good question, Dennis. I was wondering about this myself. Here's a link to someone who did the research (as of 2009). I didn't bother to double check the work but he provides sources on nhl.com to do so if anyone chooses.

                Currently
To date (2008-2009), 785 players have played in the NHL this season
                410 are Canadian (52.2%)
                173 are American (22.04%)
                202 are other (25.73%)

In 1997-98, 763 players played at least one game in the NHL
                464 were Canadian (60.81%)
                126 were American (16.51%)
                173 were Other (22.67%)

In 1979-1980, 658 players played at least one game in the NHL
                553 were Canadian (84.04%)
                64 were American (9.72%)
                41 were Other

In 1966-67, 179 players played at least one game in the NHL
                173 were Canadian (96.65%)
                3 were American (1.68%)
                1 was Slovakia/Canadian (0.56%)
                1 was English/Canadian (0.56%)
                1 was Polish/Canadian (0.56%)

The highest rate of increase of any country has been the United States.

                • So how are we doing on our picks anyway? I think I went 4-4 in the first round. Knew I should have taken Phoenix over Chicago because Smith has been on fire the last couple months but I just couldn't bring myself to pick a team that has never won a single playoff series.

I think it'll be the Rangers and Flyers in for the East in what should be an outstanding series. Lundqvist will be the difference as the Rangers advance to the finals.

The West is superior in all phases, IMO. Any of the 4 remaining teams could will the whole damn thing but I'm taking Kings over Preds in the West final.

As a boy in the late 70s I knew all the great Montreal teams and Toronto too, as I watched hockey Night in Canada every Saturday. The Red Wings only had about 20 games on tv at one time. I never seen Orr but Fedorov was probably the faster skater I ever seen.

At this point I don't really mind who wins. I guess I would like the Rangers since they are an original 6, Phoenix and Nashville meh

Phoenix is looking really good right now but the series doesn't start until the home team loses a game. Nashville will be a mad house (and I have to admit I kinda like the maize-out thing they do).
