      • Lidstrom takes the Norris!

        • Lidstrom is awesome. I'd say he is probably the #3 greatest Wing of all time now behind Howe and Yzerman.

          • Perhaps a decade ago sure but ahead of Weber and Chara? "Yes Virginia there is a Santa Claus."

            • Eh. I love Lidstrom, but no way was he the best defenseman in the league this year. Not even close.

              • This is one for one of the years he was deserving and didn't get the award.

                  I was thinking that myself.

One of my coworkers and I were talking about "Lidstrom vs Bobby Orr" today. Orr did change that game, but was he a dominant defensive defenseman like Lidstrom was up until about two years ago? For a long time, Lidstrom was in the top three in the league when it came to being both a defensive defenseman and an offensive defenseman. I can't think of another guy who was so good in both categories for so long.

                  • Lidstroms longevity as a top player is certainly remarkable. I think that is a result of his style, which does not rely on him being physical or super fast.

                    • Orr was great at both ends of the ice. Still my best player ever. Gretzky and Lemeiux were all offense. Lidstrom was good offensively, but Orr could dominate. He played both ways, was physical, and a pretty good fighter too.

                        • I attended the Bobby Orr / Bobby Walton Hockey camp in Orillia, Ontario! I've also been to Gretzky's camp in Phoenix too!

I was too young to appreciate Orr in his prime, caught him on one leg playing for the Hawks but no one IMO will ever challenge Gretzky in his prime, he was REMARKABLE!

                          • I had the good fortune to see Bobby Orr in his prime. He was indeed electric! He could outskate everybody and when he was on the ice all eyes were on him. He was just incredibly acrobatic in his moves plus great speed and quickness.

                            • Shea Weber is a RFA. I'd like to see the Wings make a run at him. I was hoping that Lidstrom could be signed for less so that they'd have more money left over for a guy like Weber. Rumor has it, the Wings are making or have made Jagr an offer.

                              • Draft starts tonight, I hope either of this guy is there at 24. He's gonna be one of the best d-man from this draft.

There are also rumors that we are trying to trade for Brent Burns from Minnesota who has one year left on a contract 'til he's UFA but is still young (26) and is a great D-man who would play very well with either Kronwall or Lidstrom.

I really hope we grab those new Swedish twins with our two picks in the 5th round....that would be sweet to have.
