      • Some reasons to be optimistic this year. The team finally appears to have some young talent again but it's not totally raw green and the wheat (e.g. Tatar, Nyquist) has been separated from the overrated chaff by now. The old guys that were hanging around from the Stanely Cup years not producing anything are pretty much all gone (except for Dan Cleary, who hopefully will be a permanent healthy scratch). Datsyuk probably has a few more great years. With Mike Green we finally got the offensive defenseman that we have needed for four years. For the first time in a long time, I am looking at the roster liking most of what I see and thinking "yeah, this can work". It now just remains to be seen what Blashill can get out of them.

        • Dan Cleary has been waived. I also like the young talent on the team but Howard is not the answer in goal. He lowers the ceiling considerably. Green worries me with his aversion to defense but overall I like the product. Lots to look forward to.

          • A lot of Capitals fans where I am, and not a 1 is sad that they lost Green. I'm hoping he does great but am a little pessimistic on him.

            • He filled a big need.

There are holes in the roster to be sure, but just about everyone in the league has those. I like the forward lines a lot. Goaltending will be adequate. Defense -- kind of a question mark but I think it won't be worse than average.

              • To me the Green acquisition is going to be similar to the acquisition of Larry Murphy. Leaves fans were willing to drive him to the airport to be rid of him. But he was a missing piece for the Wings. The last couple of years they were on a quest for a right handed defenseman who could provide offense.

                • Leaves fans? Now that's funny!

                  • Not a good week for Hanni.

Just when Harbaugh nearly drains his almost empty glass then comes along NHL 18-year old rookie phenom, Connor McDavid , scores the game wining goal against Detroit in a 3-1 victory and shatters it.

                    Sweet goal!

What is the world coming to?

                    • Seven years, $4.25 MM per year for Justin Abdelkader.

I thought it was a misprint when I first saw it. Is Ken Holland auditioning for the Toronto Maple Leafs GM job or something?

                      • Ken Holland may have officially crossed over into Lloyd Carr 2007 territory.

                          • Connor McDavid is back after missing 1/2 the season with broken collarbone from dirty double Philadelphia Flyer hit, disgusting.

Anyway, checkout his speed puck control at about 2:40 of the 60minute segment, this kid is off the charts!
