  • Good posts Hannibal, im a hockey snob so I don't care where the NHL stands in the popularity list. Its a regional sport not the NBA like Bettman wants, though I had to upgrade a whole package top get one f*ing channel NBCSC.

Game 3 tonight, that right back to back again. The Rangers have been a victim of the NHL schedule makers in the postseason, having to play a back-to-back set to conclude a seven-game series against Philadelphia in the first round and getting no rest between this contest and a 3-0 defeat in Game 2 on Sunday in Pittsburgh.

I'd be more worried about Babcock bolting. I'm certain he likes Ilich & the Wings but is waiting to see what Holland can do to restock first. I could see him take the Vancouver or Toronto job PLUS a boatload if ca$h!!

Franzen underachieved in the playoffs, but his $3.95-million salary cap hit makes him more attractive to keep than to catapult. He produced 16 goals among 41 points in 54 regular-season games, well above a 20-goal average. He was quiet in the postseason, again, but so were the young guys that were so key to the Wings even making the playoffs: Gustav Nyquist, Tomas Tatar, Riley Sheahan and Tomas Jurco.

“To think we’re out because of one person not scoring,” Holland said, “that’s a fantasy.”

        • Mr I has looked like he is near death the last year. Don't know if this is true, but he is definitely in very poor heath.

          Mike Ilitch Has Colon Cancer

Wings GM Ken Holland has been reporting directly to Chris Ilitch regarding hockey operations and that their relationship is not as cozy as the one Holland enjoyed with Mike Ilitch. Multiple sources have informed me that Holland has been frustrated at times with the younger Ilitch and has had at least one “take this job and shove it” moment.

First time in 25 years and actually blame Lady Gaga & Mel Torme. It's raw deal but AV has to plan for it, also extra incentive to close your series out early.

Rangers look simply terrible to me, not gassed.

No PP is killing them. Crosby at the top of his game, sieve Flurry back-to-back Shutouts, looking good.

You gotta let that go Hanni....like when Franzen kneed Crosby illegally hoping to give his team an edge in game 7....The Jackass better hope that Crosby runs into him in a bar before I do.

After game 3, add Marc Staal to the list.

Seriously, how did they even get in the playoffs and past the first round? What are they 0-35 now on the power play (?) and the Pens seem to have better scoring chances shorthanded. Jeremy Roenick sarcastically said the Rangers should deny all Pittsburgh penalty's before game 2. He's almost right.

                        L. A. Looks like they might be getting on another roll like when they one the Cup, I sure hope so to beat Chicago - then Boston.

                        • I think Boston will beat Pitt in East and Chicago takes LA in 7.

                          • I didn't see that, this game was one of the few that was so damn boring, I went to work after the first. Staal should be suspended for that 'clear' hit to the head.

In Game 2 of the Blackhawks-Wild series, Chicago defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson took a puck square to the throat. He left the game briefly but returned for his next shift, amazingly. He'll also be returning for Game 3 on Tuesday night. Oh by the way he can't talk at all, another day at the office.
