  • I remember that fight Packy, Probie was the best.

Like yourself, the NHL & its Officials too, missed a beauty of a game last night!

Toews was assaulted by Boychuck, no penalty or game misconduct?!?

Wish Shanny would stop sending out his resumes and review then suspend that dirty Canuck/Ukrainian! Clearly a blindside hit.
Toews sat out the 3rd period!

If no suspension is forthcoming, I'd dress a fourth/fifth-liner and take a run at Hask ensuring that he misses the rest of the SCF too....this is outrageous!

Patrice Bergeron was taken to the hospital in an ambulance! CBC reports ruptured spleen although I also read he walked into the ambulance and that it was precautionary, I thought he appeared to catch a rut in the ice earlier in the game and left to be examined at a Chicago hospital, stay tuned.

    • Other G5 notables:

Jaromir Jigger, ZERO goals in 22 playoff games but like Journey sang: "Don't stop, believin' "!

Chara on for 8 of the last 9 Chicago goals, he is unraveling as the Blackhawks continue to pop him. As for his CzechaPollockian countryman, David Krejč?....ZERO goals in the SCF.

Rask played well enough to win but Crawford was a bit better in G5.

If patrice Bergeron is done for the season, Boston will lose their top faceoff man, top penalty killer and top powerplay man as the best 200 footer in the League will be impossible to replace.

The Stanley Cup final has not gone to overtime of Game 7 for 59 years, but this one has the distinct feel that might be possible.

      • Sports Illustrated, Injury Update (Bergeron Toews).

UPDATE: Reports circulated after the game that Patrice Bergeron may have suffered a ruptured spleen. Unconfirmed estimates suggest the injury could sideline him for as much as six months. Much of this is uncorroborated at this point, so we’ll have to wait for the Bruins to comment before knowing the exact severity of the injury.

Jonathan Toews sat out the entire third period, but stayed on the bench and joined his teammates on the ice for postgame celebrations. That suggests he didn’t suffer a brain injury and should be available for action on Monday.

If the Boston Bruins are going to stage a third-period comeback, they’ll have to do it without star center Patrice Bergeron.

Boston’s leading contender for the Conn Smythe Trophy appeared to tweak something during a second-period dash for the puck. He played just over two minutes in the period and, after taking one quick 16-second twirl midway through the period, was glued to the bench the rest of the way.

When asked by NBC’s Pierre McGuire to clarify Bergeron’s situation, Boston coach Claude Julien replied, “Let’s just say were gonna give him a little time.”

The Bruins have now confirmed that Bergeron has left in an ambulance.

The Hawks might have an equally devastating injury to deal with. Captain Jonathan Toews missed several shifts to start the third after taking a vicious shot to the head from Boston defender Johnny Boychuk on a daring drive to the net late in the second.

Edit: and no I don't and never have bought into "hockytown" but this is Detroit a big hockey town for Christ's sake!! and I have Direct tv so I don't get channel 9 CBC IF I was home!

I feel your pain Packy, same shit happened to me in G4. I got stuck moving my boat from a repair yard in Ft. Lauderdale back to Miami Beach marina, what should have taken an hour and 15 minutes ended at 12:00 midnight, I was so PISSED!

Have DirectTV Satellite on my boat, thought I would watch a little while heading south at 19 knots, btw EVERY damn game is broadcast here in Miami, WTF? Anyway, should have been home by 6pm, Volvo mechanics wrenched on the 1200 maintenance schedule until 10 pm, rough fucking seas delayed my arrival.

Unable to see anything in rough seas, end up with my head out the sunroof, making course corrections with my feet at the helm, one rocky ride, Hence the blurs.......managed just a few highlights from the best game of the series G4.......wanted to take hostages!!!

Watched scoring snippets from the dman flybridge! Didn't bother to DVR it, should have been home hours ago.

Brand new heading back to sea.

              Speed Prop treatment.

Engines serviced, ready to go home.

              Salon at port.

ready to watch game if need be.

              Helm before.

              Helm at sea.

              Rough as hell.

              Limited to hockey highlights.

Can't see a damn thing, dangerous as hell.

I guess Shanahan think its a clean hit lol WTF he is such a moron now!

He was the recipient of a clean, hard hit from Johnny Boychuk that initially and clearly made contact with Toews shoulder before catching his head in the follow-through
The NHL has decided it won't discipline Boston Bruins defenseman Johnny Boychuk for his hit to the head of Chicago Blackhawks forward Jonathan Toews, according to a report from TSN's Darren Dreger.

                  • G6 tonight should be dandy.

Damn shame the League has allowed the Officials to swallow their whistles and not enforce the rule book. Toews' head has been targeted by Chara, Lucic and now by Boychuk.

Expect Chicago to go "Old Testament" as they target Bruin skilled players in the same manner, Rask, Chara, Krejci, Bergeron (if he plays) better have their heads on a swivel.

Doubt Patrice Bergeron plays tonight, thankfully it's not his spleen as earlier reported, seems like a rib/muscle or bruised kidney issue, if he is crazy enough to play, Chicago will pound him relentlessly.

Too close to call in G6, suspect it goes to OT, Rask will play like a beast.

Toews will play G6, obviously he has a slight concussion, wonder how effective he will be?

Slight lean to Boston in forcing a G7 back in Chicago.

                        • I'm cautiously optimistic that this one will be going back to Chicago, that the Bruins will find a way to prevail tonight. I'll be interesting, to say the least, which injured players on each side can crawl out of their hospital beds and back out on to the ice.

                          • BERGERON MISSES MORNING SKATE, JULIEN CONFIDENT HE'LL PLAY

BOSTON -- Bruins centre Patrice Bergeron did not take part in the morning skate ahead of Game 6 of the Stanley Cup on Monday night. After the skate however, Bruins coach Claude Julien said Bergeron will take warmups and he's confident he'll play.

Bergeron is listed day-to-day after leaving Game 5 on Saturday night with an undisclosed injury.

Carl Soderberg took Bergeron's place between Jaromir Jagr and Brad Marchand at the skate. He also filled in for Bergeron after the Bruin went to hospital during the last game.

Bergeron's morning absence does not mean he is out for the game. The Bruins could be resting him -- or trying to keep the Blackhawks guessing.

Chicago, whose morning skate followed Boston's, leads the final three games to two. Captain Jonathan Toews was on the ice for the Hawks' skate, a good indication he will play in Game 6. He did rushes with usual linemates Bryan Bickell and Patrick Kane.

Toews left Game 5 with what coach Joel Quenneville called an upper-body injury. Quenneville said Sunday he was "optimistic" Towes could play.

The heat will literally be on both teams. The forecast high for Boston on Monday is 33 C.

There was a thin layer of fog on the ice when the Bruins started their morning skate.

                            • 33 C? In other words, about 92 Fahrenheit in Boston. Great hockey weather!

In other NHL news, any more on the Coyotes moving to Seattle? I haven't seen anything about it online over the weekend.

Anyone else on this forum besides Dennis who is located in the Seattle area? For some reason I'm thinking he doesn't follow the NHL much; besides, he's still waiting for the triumphant return of the Seattle Pilots...
