  • Nope, it doesn't. Hopefully, our good fortune will continue this year. Injuries have killed us the past few years during either the regular season or the playoffs.

    • Conklin was lights out in Sunday's victory over the Black Hawks. He kept the Wings in that game, including stopping a penalty shot. That was a big win.

      • Wings win with shoot-out goals by Datsyuk and Zetterberg. Jimmie Howard gets his 100th win. Datsyuk and Howard going to all star game...

        • Both Datsyuk and Zetterberg showed puck handling skills that the other shoot-out players seemed to lack. That lag backhander by Z was amazing. It unfolded in slow motion and left the goalie sprawled and helpless.

              • Bertuzzi with the winner in OT!!
Repugnant is the creature who would squander the ability to lift an eye to heaven, conscious of his fleeting time here.

                  • Fighting is down 30% this year, Bettman has made it clear to Shanny he wants it out of the game. When the players policed them self's I thought it was best (and loved it), but im used to not even thinking about it now. Mick with the call..

                    • I admit it---I enjoy a good hockey game to occasionally break out in the middle of the hockey fights.

Probert was both one helluva hockey player and fighter---too bad he had his demons that he could never conquer, but he alone was worth the price of admission when he was at the top of his game. If he could have sobered up permanently, he potentially could have been one of the alll-time great Red Wings. Thanks for that youtube clip!

                      • I'd love to ask Bettman to show me the fans booing that fight, or sitting on their hands. He seems intent on driving away the fans that made the League successful, in order to draw in..........who?

                        • Sponsorship $ that doesn't want to be affiliated with something closer to WWE or UFC.

                          • If that was remotely like hockey before bettman, I'd agree with you.....

                            • From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Probert#Death:

Bob Probert's family announced, on September 25, 2010, that his brain would be donated to the Sports Legacy Institute to assist researchers who are studying the effects of concussions and other sports-related head injuries.[24] In February 2011, it was announced by researchers at Boston University that they had found evidence of chronic traumatic encephalopathy in Probert's brain.[25]
So there's a good reason to stop fighting in the NHL...

                              • If they ever stop fighting, they might get more medical conditions like that from all of the diry, unpoliced hits than they will from fights.
