        Tim Gettinger: 1yr (2way)

        J.T. Compher: 5yr $5.1M

        Resigned:

No Bert is disappointing. Did we match what Toronto offered him, I wonder?

$5.1 MM for Compher. Mmmmm. Don't know about that one. He's Darren Helm without the injuries. Don't get me wrong, I liked Darren Helm a lot, but -- using that much cap room for a third line/PK guy? Might be a bit much. Would have much rather had Bert for slightly more.

        • We haven't had any luck getting franchise players in the draft since we've been bad. Being competent with your picks obviously helps, but sometimes when you hit the lottery you just hit the lottery (e.g. Ovie, Crosby, Malkin, McDavid, etc).

Maybe we can be another Vegas. They don't have a franchise guy either. Just a crapload of guys who are really good. So far we’re not even close though.

          • Yep at some point you need some luck. But then luck is the residue of preparation.

In today's NHL there are no more elite players (almost) all the ones you have listed are senior citizens that will all be retired in 2-3 years besides McDavid. And you can't rebuild from FA - Just don't get screwed over for a top 5 pick when your team tanks/sucks.

Filip Zadina has a lot of balls getting a 3 year deal outta Yzerman only to ask out of the organization 10 months later lol. I’m so done with this kid. Kid fell in the draft because he was overrated, runs his mouth saying he’s gonna fill nets with pucks which didn’t happen. If we would’ve had a competent GM at that time we’d have Hughes or Bouchard in the organization over this guy. Then it was Blashill’s fault he didn’t like him or whatever, sure whatever he needed to go but it’s just been all excuses to this kid since draft night. This guy needs to shut up and go to work, he hasn’t even close to given Detroit his very best or a fair shot and that reputation coupled with him never showing up on the ice is why nobody wanted to trade for him and likely why nobody wants him for free. And of course, Ken Holland fell for it all.

He wanted a new team. Now he’s got it! Zadina YOU are a Griffin.

                      • Sounds as though there is a deal in place for Alex DeBrincat, but he wants 8 years and Yzerman is not going to give him that many years. Yzerman is no stranger to waiting, see Larkin and Stamkos when Yzerman was GM at Tampa. So, it's a standoff to see who gives in first.

I heard Ryan Nata (an NHL guy) saying, a couple days ago, is the DeBrincat gave Ottawa a list but like all the teams but Detroit have no way to get the cap relief needed to get DeBrincat. And that Yzerman doesn't like to go around and around in trade negotations. So he has likely made his best offer and is not going to go above it. Detroit does have the leverage here and Ottawa wants to get something then Detroit is the most likely place to get something near his value. Detroit has most of the leverage here.

                          • Alex DeBrincat from the Ottawa Senators Four-year worth $7.875 million.

in exchange for Dominik Kubalik, Donovan Sebrango, a conditional 1st round pick and a 4th round pick in 2024.

In return for DeBrincat, the Red Wings sent winger Dominik Kubalik, defense prospect Donovan Sebrango, a conditional 2024 first-round pick and a 2024 fourth-round pick. Detroit will have the right to send either their own 2024 first-round pick or Boston's 2024 first-rounder, which was acquired in the Tyler Bertuzzi trade.

Solid ! Didn’t lose any important pieces to our future and extended him for a few seasons. Yzerman has a reputation of wearing down other GM's, I really like this move.

                            • Alex DeBrincat is the best sniper by far Red Wings have acquired in a long time. Haven't seen one person who doesn't think this is an outright steal by Stevie Y. And probably the biggest signing since Marián Hossa. Trying to tamper my excitement for this year, but Red Wings should make the playoffs if they can stay relatively healthy.

Mike Valenti says the rebuild is over, time to start winning (in his way). Poor Clueless Rico has to act like he knows the NHL is a sport, I (again) love how Valenti talks over him and cuts him off. This subject I hope mike valenti is right.
