  • Congrats Boston.

Kesler came up with nothing. The Sedins were both minus four, Luongo gave up three goals on 10 shots, and it was curtains. Certainly injuries took their toll on Vancouver, but oddly Boston's two best offensive players were injured yet the team continued to score plenty of goals, plenty of role guys stepping up.

    • First time in Cup finals history a Canadian team has lost a game 7 at home. Ouch.

      • Christ, what an awful series that was. When the spotlight on the game is the brightest, the scoring dries up, the refs stop calling penalties, and you get a complete shit-fest. This morning, Gary Bettman is probably still wondering why hockey never caught on in the southern half of the US.

        • Woo hoo! Luongo shoulda kept his mouth shut!

          • Boston outscored Vancouver 23-8 in the series. Sedin sisters combined for 5 points and -12 in seven games. Luongo's save % was .891 for the series. Talk about your big guys not showing up. These guys make Marian Hossa look like Claude Lemieux.

            • I'm just disgusted and embarassed being a Canadian this morning due to a few poor losers.

Congrats to Boston. Bruins defense kept Canucks in check and when they had the opportunity Thomas came up with the save. Goes to show you no matter what sport you play, defense wins championships.

              • Don't be embarrassed to be a Canadian, Geo. Canada is a great country, and those of us here in the colonies know that you folks aren't defined by what a few losers do when they're hopped up on booze. Canadians aren't defined by what happened last night in Vancouver any more than Americans are defined by what happens in any of our cities when similar things take place. Lawbreakers unfortunately abide amongst us, no matter where the borders are. Hopefully the Canadian authorities will track down the criminals and lock them up. Its what they deserve.

That being said, I can't bring myself to root for anything from Massachusetts, except for the Patriots, and their only redeeming quality is Tom Brady.

                • I really enjoyed the enthusiastic booing and jeering of Gary Bettman while he was on the ice presenting the Conn Smythe and Stanley Cup. It is amazing how that guy is hated in every city he goes to.

And congrats to Davison/Flint, Michigan's Tim Thomas! Conn Smythe winner, Stanley Cup champion, and soon to be 2-time winner of the Vezina Trophy. Not bad for a journeyman goalie who didn't make the NHL until he was 34.

                  • Bettman is a clown. I think the only one not in on the joke is him.

                    • Nothing against Vancouver. I've been there and wish I could live there, but I'm an Original Six guy.

                        • What the hell is wrong with people?

I hope this ends all the jokes about Detroit rioting after sports events. I don't think what happened in '84 even came close to this. This is crazy--lighting police cards on fire because you lost a hockey game???

I hope they use those photos to prosecute the looters.

                          • What a bunch of idiots. Very embarrassing for their team, city and country.

The interesting part is that a lot of these idiots are being taken down through Social Media. Facebook groups thousands strong have formed to try and identify as many of the rioters as possible.

                            • Oh please....copious amounts of alcohol + massive disappointment = hooliganism, plain and simple. Vancouver is a spectacular city beyond beautiful and Vancouverites are among the finest people imaginable.

I seem to recall reading about race riots that burnt the city of Detroit to ground in 1967 and it has been dying a slow death ever since.
