          • I think this could go either way. I would love to see the Cup back in Canada, but I also grew up watching the Original Six and have liked it when one of those teams win it. Should be fun to watch.

            • Ottawa Senators have named Paul MacLean their new head coach.

MacLean spent the past five years as an assistant in Detroit, helping the team win the Stanley Cup in 2008. He and Red Wings coach Mike Babcock also worked together for two years in Anaheim, taking the Ducks to the Stanley Cup final in 2003 when Murray was the team's GM.

Rumours in Windsor here have Bob Boughner as a possible candidate to replace MacLean.

              • Why couldn't they take McCrimmon instead?

                • The Bruins will get a chance to become the first team in NHL history to win three Game 7s in a single year and win the Cup. Surprisingly, it’s just the first Game 7 ever for the Bruins in a Cup Final in their long and storied history.

                  • That's because for as long as they've been around, they haven't been in very many finals.

                    • Boston has been in the finals 16 times. The Red Wings 17

Im sure they are respectably sick of watch Bobby Orr fly threw the air scoring the winning goal for the Cup in 72

                        • Because it's the last time they won.

                          • Right, they love him there and he ceremoniously dropped a puck at one of the games last week. But 39 years is a long time to be watching that play. Make it 40, Vancouver (sticking with my pick) wins by a goal tonight. Game 7 baby !!

                            • The Bruins buzz is huge, people are interested in hockey in Boston more than basketball. Game 6 drew a 33.3 rating in Boston, by comparison, Game 6 of last year’s Lakers/Celtics NBA Finals drew a 22.3 rating. They really want the Cup.

                              • I'll be pulling for the Bruins since my introduction to hockey was with the original 6 back in the 1940s. It motivated me to build a rink in our back yard when I was growing up in Detroit and we carried that tradition when my family moved to Kalamazoo.

Back in Bobby Orr's heyday I took my dad and my 2 sons to Olympia and it sealed a lifelong interest in the Red Wings for my family. The Wings won that game 5-3.

Funny how these things evolve. Taking my kids to big games when they were pre-teenagers established a lifelong interest for them even though it involved some late night drives between Detroit and back from Kazoo. We did the same thing one time with a Lions game at the old Silverdome and got 50 yard line box seats courtesy of a friend who has connections. The Lions won that game and the kids still talk about it. Ever since those days I get regular calls from them whenever something big happens with the Tigers, Wings, or Lions even though none of them live in the Detroit area.

It would be interesting the hear from various posters here how they became interested in their favorite teams, whether UM, or the Detroit pro teams.
