Tampa loses Ben Bishop to a serious leg injury and the Pens fail to capitalize on the opportunity. Bolts managed to slow the Pens speed game down and clogged the neutral zone. Pittsburgh failed to score on the 5minute PP, a dirty hit on Letang from behind by Callahan.
Pittsburgh looked gassed and tired from beating the #1 seed in 6 games.
Just 4 games away from SCF but they sure didn't play like it.
Tampa appeared rested and calm as they rallied around their backup goalie.
Will be a short series if the Pens can't regroup. A slow start cost them, didn' find their legs until the 3rd period, rallied with 16 shots on net in the 3rd but too late.
Steve Yzerman said Bishop is "day-to-day" with a lower body injury. Bishop got hurt by mishandling the the puck (again). Vasilevskiy is s backup per say, but make no mistake he's a starting goalie. Next year he starts, wherever he plays.
Pittsburgh may have been tired, but Cindy hasn't scored in 8 playoffs games now. He better pick it up, Pens will live or die with his production.
Bishop is a UFA in 2017, looking for a huge pay increase from 5.9M per season, likely to the highest bidder. Yzerman can't re-sign UFA Stamkos (10-12M), Kucherov is at 700K and looking for a huge pay increase too, serious CAP space problems for SY. Johnny Drouin at 900K, RFA in 2017 as well.
"Day-to-day" means out for this series and likely the SCF if Tampa beats Pittsburgh.
A 6 foot, 7-inch man is not meant to scramble like a goaltender must with cat-like reflexes without your knee/joints popping at some point.
He's got too much to loose and little to gain at present, don't expect to see him again until the Canada Cup/World Cup next September in Toronto, donning the Red, White & Blue for Team USA.
Re Pens: Your best Players must be your Elite scorers in the playoffs too if Pens hope to beat Tampa, Crosby & Malkin need to light it up on the score sheet. In fairness, Kane & Benn were held below their regular season production too but they both are now golfing, it's do or die.
Ben Bishop might not miss significant time, and the Tampa Bay Lightning goaltender knows he escaped a potentially serious injury.Bishop didn't practice Sunday and Cooper said his netminder is still day to day after departing early in Friday's win following an awkward fall in the crease."I was really scared. I thought my leg was broken," Bishop said Sunday, according to ESPN's Joe McDonald. "It was a feeling I've never felt."X-rays came back negative after the game and he was declared day to day on Saturday.Andrei Vasilevskiy and Kristers Gudlevskis took the ice for Sunday's practice. Vasilevskiy stopped 25 of 26 shots after relieving Bishop in Game 1.
Bishop Comments on Injury
Sunday, May 15 "I was really scared. I thought my leg was broken," Bishop told reporters, adding that it was "a feeling he's never felt" before.
Latest on Bishop's Practice Status
Sunday, May 15 Rob Longley of the Toronto Sun noted Bishop was not present at Sunday's practice session.

Got a late start to Tampa for game #3 so I elected to run “Alligator Alley” in the new 911 Turbo S by Porsche and at 205 MPH top-end, it was a wise choice.
Thanks to Sidney Crosby’s OT winner in game #2, the series was levelled and Hockey Fans were in for a dandy.
Crosby did NOT disappoint in game #3, with a spectacular effort, scoring his second-straight game-winner.
I watched every single shift and with 6 ‘7”, 243 lbs., Brian Boyle “ghosted” Sid’s every move but he still managed to dominate the game, you truly can’t appreciate the skill on TV but live, it was impressive.
Boyle tried his best to keep Crosby from re-joining the play after each punishing check but it mattered little. Hands down, he is the greatest player to hit the NHL since Gretzky/Lemieux.
“Crosby is eighth all-time in NHL postseason points per game at 1.15. He and his teammate, Evgeni Malkin (1.06), are the only two active players in the top-34 on the all-time list and the only two that average more than a point-per-game. He is fifth among active players in postseason goals per game.
These are big numbers. All-time great numbers.”
Can’t wait for game # 4! This is OP reporting to you from rinkside!
"Whole milk, not the candy-ass 2-percent or skim milk."
Clarke lifted the disc onto his blade and tucked it right past the goalie’s mask for the goal. And the goalie just sorta stayed there, frozen in place.
OP, how can you drive a nice ride as above, yet drink starbucks coffee? Come on, that shit can accurately be described as a war crime.

Crosby pulls the Michigan too. That type of goal actually is scored in Lacrosse often, not many guys have the balls to attempt it in hockey.
Not but 15 or 16 years old, playing in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League for the Rimouski Oc?anic. Finished the game with 2 goals and 4 assists. Circa 2003-2005

Game #4 of the Eastern Stanley Cup Final in Tampa was a blast yesterday, less the final score of course! Festive environment, tons of fun!
The evening Included Pierre McGuire “Inside The Glass”, 4 Blind Mice, a drunken Highlander and of course the Greatest Hockey Player in the World, all did not disappoint.
Hell, even the Air Guitar Astronaut or Nut, was hilarious as he typically berates opposing players. Oh yeah, the Traditional Organ was cool too.
Tampa refused to quit despite a late 3rd period surge by the Pens. Series knotted at 2 apiece, losing Pens D-man, Trevor Daley to a broken ankle may prove costly, Letang seriously hurt his time by drawing a double-minor.
Pens should be flying for Game #5 in Pittsburgh! Best of 3 games for a trip to SCF!
Finland upset Russia today in the Semi, 3-1. Zero points scored by Datsyuk and Ovechkin? Alex the "GR8T" managed 2 points over the 4 games he played in the Tournament, wtf?
Putin is the President of Russia and still the Director of her KGB apparatus, what are the odds we find Ovechkin with an ice pick in his eye in Mexico City?
In the other Semi, Canada edged the USA 4-3 and meets Finland in the Gold Medal Final tomorrow.
US meets Russia for the Bronze tomorrow as well.
NHL :
St. Louis Blues - San Jose Sharks even at 2 games apiece. Sharks aren't bulletproof after all?
Blues score 6 goals, plus fire one into their own net - beating Jake Allen cleanly. How much you want to bet they will need some of them for Game 5? Probably lose by a goal.
