  • Panthers bumped in game 6 but no fault of their own. Although we now have two referees on the ice, not one of them has the guts to make the right call as Vinnie Trocheck is robbed on an empty net goal that sealed victory for Florida in regulation?

    The officiating is pure garbage.

    • Smith was a borderline call, but the Trocheck trip was a no-doubter. If either one of those get called, the Panthers go on the power play and win the game.

Camera went right to Gerry Gallant after the OT goal and he was seething. Always liked Gallant, one of my favorite Red Wings before the Cup years. Lot of heart, always very competitive - never backed down from a fight (though sometimes should have).

23 years is a long time for Islanders fans since they won a playoff series, what a way to do it.

      • It's not the textbook hip check at issue.

Florida Panthers' forward Reilly Smith is not the puck carrier.

In fact, he wasn't even the last Panther to touch the puck, although the check was a thing of beauty, it was totally illegal, interference and clearly a 2-minute penalty.

        • Seabrook with four minutes remaining and the Blackhawks trailing the Blues 3-2, hit a shot that went off of both goal posts and somehow didn’t score. Blues win game 7 lmao There is a Hockey God!

Was the most dangerous midget on the ice however.

                  • Caps-Pens should be ECF. But they're going to have to play one another sooner or later.

                    • The Rangers needed to try harder to lose to Detroit in the regular season finale. The Isles are gonna waltz right into the ECF. The DID try to lose but Alain Vigneult is their coach so they failed.

                        • If I'm understanding this correctly, in the West Dallas plays St Louis in a 1v2 matchup while the 6th seed Sharks wait to see if they play the 3rd or 7th seed.

And in the East it's still 1v2 and 5v6.

                          Go Pens!

                          • Here's why, courtesy of SB Nation.

                            The format

The top three teams in each division -- Atlantic, Metropolitan, Central, Pacific -- earned automatic postseason berths, while the final four spots were given to two wild card teams in each conference based on point totals. The top seeds in both conferences play against the lowest wild card teams in the first round, and the other division winners face off against the other wild card qualifiers. Otherwise, the matchups aren't based on conference standings -- rather, the second and third seeds in each division square off. From there, whoever emerges from the series involving division champions take on the winners of the series involving the second and third seeds in what is known as the conference semifinals. The winners advance to the Conference Finals, and then the Stanley Cup Final.

Each series is best-of-seven, played in a 2-2-1-1-1 format.

                              • Over his career, Crosby has scored 1.375 points per game, an average that falls fifth all-time, behind only Gretzky, Lemieux, Orr, and Bossy.

That’s an incredibly high average and oh yeah, Crosby nearly missed an entire 2 full seasons (of his prime) with a concussion/pinched nerve.
