Wings had their chances tonight, especially in the 2nd when several shots clanged off but didn't go in. But they really blew it by not scoring during that 5-minute PP opportunity, then giving up a quick PP goal immediately after that major expired.

Vancouver had a hard time selling their tickets for the playoffs, looks as if the fans knew what to expect.

DVR'd the Wings game after the 1st, will watch tonight.

The Canucks have lost 10 of their past 11 playoff games since taking a 3-2 lead over Boston in the 2011 Stanley Cup final.

Up front, they have scored just 17 goals in their last 13 playoff games with nothing from the Sedins, and 11 of them were losses.

Is it time to bring in a new team behind the bench and in the front office? Head coach Alain Vigneault's playoff record has dropped to 33-35 - and 2-12 in his last 14 games - while their ongoing inability to sort out the goaltending issue is still in the hands of general manager Mike Gillis.

Gillis had the entire season and all of last summer to trade Roberto Luongo and add pieces to make the team better. But he just couldn't get it done. So Luongo ended up playing 20 games this season - pushing close to half the workload of a lockout-shortened campaign - finishing with a pedestrian 9-6-3 record, 2.56 goals-against average and .907 save percentage.

IMO, Fire Gillis & AV immediately. Keep Luongo he is still elite (it's Gillis' 10 M nutty contract fault anyway). Trade the Sedin floaters ASAP (not built for the playoffs, what's the point?) Trade Cory Schneider (they will get more)...these players have great value and will yield substantial assets in return provided Gillis is no longer the triggerman.

Hire LINDY RUFF as HC...ASAP!

VANCOUVER -- Vancouver Canucks forwards Daniel and Henrik Sedin and defenceman Alex Edler will play for Sweden at the world hockey championships.

J.P. Barry, the Sedins' agent, confirmed Wednesday the twins will play for their homeland at the worlds. They will leave Vancouver for Stockholm on Friday after attending a media availability to discuss the disappointing end of the Canucks' season.

This will mark the fifth time the Sedins have represented Sweden in world championship play. They helped their homeland win bronze medals in 2001 and 1999.

They will play harder for Sweden at the Worlds this year than they have ever played for Vancouver, just watch.

The good news as soft Europeans, Bronze will be their reward, hilarious. These guys didn’t grown up worshipping the Stanley Cup, they don't care as much and checked out when the paychecks stopped coming.

I think those ships have sailed OP. On Coaches Corner last night the infamous Don Cherry reiterated what he had said around trading time that Vancouver should have traded Schneider when he was hot. It will be an interesting summer in BC.
