    • OL recruiting for '13 is over, they won't take a 7th.

      • “The coaches told me they still had room for me,” Hunt said. “I know six offensive linemen is a lot but I’m not afraid to compete. After taking all my trips, if I feel Michigan is the best spot for me, I’ll still go there and be ready to win a job. There is going to be competition anywhere you go so that doesn’t bother me.”

That's not what I'm reading Wm.

          • I don't think it mattered. Well, from what I understand, Oregon was the team to beat. Until today. Still not all that sure it matters.
Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
            Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

            • Some M recruits were expecting him to commit on his official visit, which he took to AA. Samuelson committed right before his OV.

              • If you want a spot in the class then commit early like most of the other offensive linemen did. Just make sure you know Michigan is def where you wanna go.

                • This gets back into the old discussion about Hoke's recruiting policies .... some of which turned out to be more case by case than was first reported but....

Given that it seems Hoke will only recruit the kid (not handlers and not "involved/extended family"), given that it appears he wants some level of commitment from the kids to the Michigan way - and all that notion entails - it would seem that there is a good portion of the nation's very elite HS football players that (a) are not going to be interested in Michigan because of the M way and (b) Michigan is not going to be interested in them. You could assume, for example in the case of Lequan Treadwell, those kinds of folks are not going to end up playing in the Big House on Saturdays ..... this no matter how good M's coaching might be or how many wins the teams might have.

In thinking about this, I'm probably OK with it. Yes, it bugs me that for one reason or the other, elite skill players, the ones who have the potential of being difference makers right away, don't seem to be seeking out M and M does not seem to be seeking them out (in any serious way it appears). It probably means that, going forward and in the current circumstances surrounding CFB, M is not going to be a regular visitor to the play-offs. They'll get there once in a while but there are no Michigan football dynasties in M's future.

I suspect Hoke, et. al. are fine with that.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

                  • Yep, Michigan sells BT championships to recruits, while osu is selling national championships.

                    • All due respect, I think that's bull pucky. Hoke has recruited as well as anyone. If they don't make regular trips to the top of the heap, it will be a matter of player development and x's and o's...

                      • Anyone? No, it is not accurate to say he has recruited as well as anyone. The teams who have won national championships in the last ten years have recruited better.

                        • Recruit the lines and the skill players will look better anyhow. I too am more interested in seeing how player development goes.

                          • He's recruited as well as anyone in the Legends Division.

And with his staff, that should be all they need to compete with the elite.

                            • We'll see. Perhaps as Michigan improves they'll be able to haul in the recruits on par with the SEC and USC, but I doubt that.

His last class was ranked 7th overall and this class is 5th overall to rivals. That's pretty decent.
