  • Why not? OSU won a national championship because of Clarrett and got no punishment for it. Auburn won a national championship with a bought and paid for player and got no punishment for it.

    • Depends on what one prefers: winning with honor, or winning dishonorably.

      • 5K or 10K handshakes, we need Green to fulfill Hoke's fantasy running game. Lack of depth has killed this team, every damn year.

And enough of the bullshit excuses. The 49ers FIRE Mike Singletary, hire Harbaugh and in one year and 13 games on the job, according to Tom Brady, they have the best defense in the NFL. Sure makes a ton of coaches look lazy, incompetent and taking their Clubs for a "ride".

You will see a year and 13 games into Hoke's tenure against South Carolina in the Outback, you tell me is Michigan getting their money's worth?

Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
          Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

              • Sam Webb still very confident about Derrick Green. He hasn't mentioned a "gut feeling" about Green, but says he thinks Michigan is "far and away" the team to beat.

                • DG is about all M needs to 'complete' this class, terrific back-to-back classes. Every major need filled though it would've been nice to land a capable QB in '12. Class of '14 won't be rated as high as I don't think they'll have as many scholarships as they did in '12/'13. It'll be more about quality and filling needs, one of which is likely a kicker.

                  • WM:

Are you that high on the WR position we have recruited in the last 2years? Who in particular? Not being argumentative, just want your input.

                    • I think it's a nice collection of tier 2 talent; Darboh, Dukes, Jones, Chesson & York is how I'd rank them. Extremely tall group of receivers with good athleticism (a couple lacking the speed you'd like) and along with Funchess, Jake Butt, Khalid Hill; they should be a strong group down the line... It's not an overly impressive group but it's better than a lot of groups M has brought in over the past decade, good QB's can make 'average' WR's look good...

M returns Gallon, Dileo & Jackson for their senior seasons in '13. In '14, M is going to be very dependent on the above group panning out as hoped.

                      • Take a peek at M's WR recruits since '04 or so, not a very impressive group other than Mario Manningham. In '04 they landed Adrian Arrington, a guy I liked more than most. I see these guys as similar in talent to him. If they get 2 Adrian Arrington's out of the 5, they are in terrific shape.

                        • Michigan has had average WRs for the past two years and they as a group did their job admirably. WR hasn't been a problem. Hasn't been an out-of-nowhere points factory, but not a problem.

                          • Easy to imagine in the Treadwell case that ``recruit me harder'' is a euphemism for ``pay me money''. Just guessing, but it's not unlikely...

Eh. Not sure I agree with that. These guys other than Gallon suck at getting open. They aren't great athletes and they don't make big plays. Our passing game has been garbage, for the most part. Denard has something to do with that though. We desperately need some great receivers.

                              • We've had absolutely no running game the past two years -- the wins have come thanks to WRs making a ton of plays, many of them absolutely ridiculous ones. Northwestern this year is a good example. Roundtree had a nice latter half of the year once Gardner started throwing to him.
