  • Sounds very likely, M is going to court McQuay and might still have an offer for Dawson (cornerback)...

    • Help me understand McQuay -- I get that the music major is a huge thing, but if he's down to Vandy and Michigan, how does Michigan possibly lose out? Weather?

      Comment

      • Supposedly their music program is that top notch. That's the only advantage I've read.

        • Unfortunately, it's hard to knock a kid for wanting to go to Vandy. Like losing a kid to Stanford.

          Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

          • He's a five-star kid. I can respect that, but surely he's got an NFL career in mind too? Not that he wouldn't go up against top competition, but...

            • Maybe he just wants to be a Nashville cat.

              • maybe he has heard the marching band.

                • Surprised not to see anything posted here yet (maybe it instead made it to the thread for our bucknut "friends"), but its now sort-of official, Urban Liar has flipped Conley from U of M:

...as he has verbally commited to the evil empire

I figured it was, but just surprised that the latest news on this (an actual verbal, reportedly, instead of just the speculation we've been seeing for weeks) hadn't shown up yet in this, the Recruiting Thread.

Which thread is it located in? I wanted to avoid sloshing thru the disgusting muck in one certain thread to find it, a thread which was set up long long ago to accomodate enemy infiltrators...

                      • I think everyone knew it was coming. Not much of a surprise. I think that's what Liney is getting at.

                        • No, not a surprise. But it sure caused a big meltdown over at MGoBlog. I was able to read somewhat less than half of some 160+ comments when the thread was locked down by moderators over there.

It never ceases to amaze me how much some let their lives be affected by the ebb and flow of recruiting, the whims and wishy-washyness of 16-, 17-, and 18-yr-olds. Sure, I find recruiting news to be interesting, but you'd think the sky was falling for Michigan if you were to read some of the commentary on that thread prior to meltdown and subsequent shutdown

                          • Well, you're not them. That site, Stadium & Main, whatever the Rivals site is -- they're too big. They necessarily attract the lowest common denominator/average joe CFB fan. And that means bullshit meltdowns, stupid conversations and total hostility toward any non-my team fan.

The only OSU site I post on is the Scout premium forums. Those are tolerable. Folks generally remain calm, though giving up 49 against IU still prompts Fire Fickell threads. The OSU Scout open forums are unbearable (as are the M Scout open forums).

Here, there are roughly 10-15 people who post, most of whom actually have some sort of perspectiveand sense of the larger picture. When it comes to recruiting, they pay attention to WM and more or less understand the way things go. In this case, I offered what OSU insiders were saying, so there was really no suprise.

At the end of the day, Conley is just 1 kid. The rational response is, frankly, this. Pat yourselves on the back, asshats. Heh.

                            • Hoke should keep recruiting him.

maybe he has heard the marching band. -- LOL!!!!!

                              • Rob F: see post 5039.

We had discussions it at length, but 5039 is the way we summarize things here. We disagreed mostly about Hoke's "no visit" policy, and I figure Dawson back to UM and Conley to OSU are examples of the two possible outcomes of that policy.
