I really appreciate what the mgoblog guys are doing in that specific way. Yes, football is complex. But it's not rocket science. You can learn, and those guys have and therefore acquit themselves well in those press conferences.

Well that's the thing. Simers is a jerk. He's had run-ins before IIRC and has been in his job for a coupla decades now, so he's got the sense of entitlement that comes with that. Calling people on the carpet in public in a way that impacts their livelihood is a sensitive business, but also an important one. Accountability is good, and a proper approach by media contributes to that.

      • The more I watch that Mora video the more I realize how much I hate the media and snotty ass reporters!

        • All coaches should do like Belichick...just repeat the same answer over and over with a deadpan expression.
I'll let you ban hate speech when you let me define hate speech.

          • Lots of advantages to saying a lot of nothing and not much advantage of getting into detail, answering tough questions and being honest.

            • Sad but true these days. However it's a fun and smug feeling when people like Heiko are vindicated. If you're going to disrespect a person who has a job to do and is just trying to do it by asking thoughtful questions in a polite way, you'd damn well better be as competent as Belicheck to justify shitting on people like that. Borges has a ways to go there...

              • What was looking like a top 2-3 class is turning into a top 6-8 class. On the field results vs ND, OSU, Neb certainly hurt momentum, if M beats a couple of those teams and is playing in the CCG and/or a BCS bowl, I think it helps them quite a bit with these guys on the fence (Conley, Dawson, Treadwell, McQuay, etc.)

                  • I don't think Tillman's going anywhere.

                        • Apparently Jon Rescke (?) LB is solid with MSU. No idea why that offer went out if M didn't think they had a good shot there, Sparty baited M to offer?

Sorry for the doomsday post, M needs a top RB (Green) badly. Everywhere else they look pretty solid (even WR I think they are good enough, good QB's make solid WR's look much better) and filling needs nicely with back-to-back top 6-7 classes, but those were needed after the disaster of a '11 recruiting class. They aren't bringing in talent at the level of USC, Florida, FSU, Texas or Bama but nobody really does. They are in the next tier with LSU, Georgia, OSU, Oklahoma & ND.

                          • Sorry for my version of the doom and gloom, but I don't think Michigan is getting any more elite athletes in this class. Any future commits will be fillers and plan b's ...

                            • Green is very much needed and I like M's chances. Not optimistic about Treadwell and the other elites look like long shots as well. Most of these elites are taking officials in December. I'll be grateful if M lands more than one and if it's just one, I sure hope it's Green as M is nearing desperation at that position.

                              • I'd like to get Green as well, due to the reasons you mentioned. Not sure why no top RB's are interested in Michigan. They have to know they can come in with very little competition to be the featured back.
