  • Worth the early offer?
Repugnant is the creature who would squander the ability to lift an eye to heaven, conscious of his fleeting time here.

    • Really didn't know anything about him till I heard about his official visit last week. Supposedly a top 100-200 type player.

      • Jonathan Ogden was 6'9". Now, I seriously doubt this kid has that kind of talent(practically no one on earth does), but if he's getting multiple early offers, I'd think he stands a good chance of being a productive player.

        • Sounds like the kind of guy who could be a 4* based on physical upside.

          • Can he play basketball too?

            Having a 6'9" 300 pound walk-on wouldn't suck.

            • Supposedly hasn't played to much football. This is when the payoff comes with deep classes and we can redshirt a kid with "potential". I still like Lewan's quote to the effect that his most important year at Michigan was his redshirt year.

I haven't read much at all about this kid, either (I pretty much skim over recruiting info until the post season), but if he has the potential to be that good, get him as a red shirt and make him sit and watch and develop. That's what it looks like Hoke is doing right now with the true freshmen offensive linemen he has, have any of them burned their redshirt yet?

I took a look at the sideline for a minute yesterday and spotted a group of about 6-7 OLinemen, at least 4 of them were freshmen (couldn't get all their uni #'s from that far away). They were all lined up along the sideline, being coached by one of the assistant coaches, it looked like he had them watching intently during Michigan's offensive plays, then he would talk to them between plays, even to the point of getting partially into different stances and demonstrating different techniques. Very interesting to watch thru the binoculars; obviously, coaching these young linemen is a constant thing.

                • Pretty sure they'll are redshirting and haven't played a down.

                  • 6'9" guy who just started laying football? Sounds like the ultimate boom or bust candidate. Given our classes in '12 and '13, it sounds like we can afford a guy like that.

                    • I don't like it. Can't afford to be reaching like that with the huge holes still on the roster. Maybe he'll be the designated kick blocker. Or put him at DE and call him Denzel "Too Tall" Ward.

                      • We still probably need to recruit about four OL in this class.

The only real holes on the roster other than that are getting a stud QB to follow up Shane Morris and one each of a stud at RB and WR if we don't land Treadwell or Green. The '12 and '13 classes are both awesome and well balanced.

                        • Coaching staff wouldn't have offered this early if they didn't really like his ability/potential, no idea how he'll be rated but the staff likes him a lot.

                          • How the he'll would you know if he's a reach recruit right now?

                            • And after the ol haul last year and this year, ol is the one area you can 'reach' on a high ceiling kid.

                              • I don't have any clue about his talent level but the coaching staff very likely saw him at camps this summer where they felt he was worthy of a very early offer.
