  • Fitz produced when he got the chance for the most part, but still I'm not completely sold. He seems like someone who can be gameplanned against very well. Just guessing. It may be Borges, who I thought was very stubborn in sticking to game plans last year.

    • Dunn would've been a great pickup and a very good fit for M's offense not to mention a steal from a rival but his talent level imo was/is overrated a bit. Mostly because he was M's best chance for a top 150 type back in last years class.

      • Heh. We'd all like Lattimore type back.

My own opinion is that Touissant and Smith are roughly equivalent coming out of high school. Different backs, for sure, but talent-wise, roughly the same. Smith is really good between the tackles, good vision, good balance, can grind 5 yards, but he doesn't have top end speed, imo. That said, he could change my mind this year. His team won't be the clear class of the league and he will really need to step up.
Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
        Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

        • As an FYI re Dunn, they really like him in Columbus. I would be surprised if he redshirted. He's still behind Hyde for big back carries, but he will play. Unfortunately, he's not a WR.

          • I'm fine with that. Nice to have a game breaker but if Smith is a guy that is going to get what's available every time and not fumble, then he'll create plenty of openings for scoring without ever posting 30-yards-or-more TD carries.

            • Lattimore's don't grow on trees.

              • Imo M needs a Toussaint/Smith type back in every recruiting class, I don't think M got one in '11 or '12 so there is need for at least another RB in this class of that caliber. Yes, Dunn certainly would fit that caliber.

                • Is Justice Hayes going to be any good? His guru ratings were really high, but Michigan fans were pretty unenthusiastic about him.

                  • Drake Johnson could be a sleeper as well, he's a big back type.

                    • I've had Hayes pegged as a receiver even before his ND commitment. Potentially due to M's desperate need for WR's in the '12 class, I might've undervalued him some as a running back.

                      • Also don't forget Norfleet.

                        • Drake Johnson has straight-line speed. Never seen Norfleet run. I doubt that Thomas Rawls lives up to Fred Jackson's hyperbole.

                          • Isn't Drake envisioned as a returner and Norfleet a 3rd-down type of back?

                            Comment

                            • Norfleet is gonna be a nice return man.

                              • If Drake has division I-A size and speed but not the talent to play RB, maybe he can be a DB.
