  • We'll have to wait and see how the DL situation shapes out after these two recent commits; it's possible M is done but I don't think they are...

Mathis is barely on my recruiting board; he's visiting every where and has a new leader after every visit. I think Wyatt Teller & Tashawn Bower (both DE's offered in the past month or two) are more likely and are more likely to stick with their 1st commitment than Mathis will with his 2nd.

    • Supposedly Mathis has a top 3 of Nebraska, M & Washington; named Nebraska his leader.

      • Cravens is supposed to announce on June 6, but he was to take a Midwest trip (Neb and UM) first. Any news on that or is he a USC lock?

        • According to Rivals chat last night, Cravens is a Trojan. They figured if they could get him on campus it might give M a shot, but it appears he will not even visit now.

          • Michigan misses out on five-star safety Su'a Cravens, but nets long-snapper Scott Sypniewski .???

                WOOHOO!!!!!!!

(not really complaining, though---very few Michigan fans ever felt we had much of a chance to sign him, especially after he recently cancelled a planned visit. I'm still pumped up over the commitments of Hurst and Poggi, anyway!)

                    • He's from my hometown (Ottawa, IL). He goes to a small catholic high school (Marquette). This is the same town Aaron Shea is from, but a different high school. Very cool to see, from my perspective.

                      • When was the last time that we recruited a long snapper with a 4-year scholarship?

                          • Do many schools offer full scholarships to long snappers? It's an important position, one that isn't appreciated until a failure at a critical time, but does it really warrant a full-ride?

                            • It is a teachable skill. I certainly would rather have spent a special teams scholarship on a punter or placekicker. Wonder if a snapper thinks of brunettes or blondes?

                              • It's apparently becoming more common. I also would prefer to use it on another player but, just about every team in the NFL has a dedicated long snapper now.
