If that is actually a violation, and it probably is, you can see why no one takes the NCAA and their mission seriously. It is joke.
If I recall, there was some discussion last summer about revising rules to better accommodate the impact and use of social media. In other words, not having ridiculous rules like this but, alas, I doubt anyone seriously looked at how stupid some of the rules the NCAA has because they were busy trying to figure out how to AVOID punishing programs whose players took large sums of money to sign, $500 handshakes for big hits and unlimited tattoos for memorabilia.
