  • Your expecting Mike McCray & DeVeon Smith RB are Wolverines? Where you guys stand with Jaylon Smith LB? Leaning ND? Glad to hear positive reviews on Gedeon as I see M as a slight favorite to Ohio. He's grown some since his pre-junior camps where he was closer to 200 lb's.

    • Michael McCray isn't going to make an 'announcement' at a press conference (slated for May 8th) but will let the news out in the next day or two.

      • McCray and Smith are M. McCray may be nervous that Gedeon will take his spot, at least according to some M posters on the OSU Scout site. But, I have zero sense of how true that is.

OSU's LB recruiting, as of now, is focused on 2 in-state guys (Gedeon and Courtney Love) and two out-of-state guys (J. Smith and Alex Anzalone). Tim Kimbrough (from Indiana) would probably commit early if OSU offered.

With McCray, it may just be a scheme thing. I think M wants a bigger Ray Lewis-type MLB and OSU would prefer a faster guy there. I could see McCray filling that role for M. Gedeon may be a little more athletic and faster. Anzalone and Gedeon seem almost like the same player to me -- but I haven't seen much of the former.

TBH, I don't see much between McCray, Anzalone, Gedeon and, frankly, Kimbrough. They're all legit 4* LB recruits, IMO. I'd probably rate Jaylon Smith a bit above the others, but, as you said, he seems to be leaning ND at the moment.

        • McCray has apparently made it official.

          • Weren't you saying you much preferred Gadeon to McCray? Not in terms of style of play but quality of prospect overall? Or was that back before Gadeon>M talk started up?

            • M has always been a big player for Gedeon. I like him better than McCray, yes. The biggest thing I said, and stand by, is that Rivals is considerably off on McCray.

He is still a very good pick up, but I don't see him as an elite talent, which is where he is rated.

                • I think Smith is the only LB I mentioned that is top 50 overall. The Levenberry kid is elite, IMO, and M is in good shape for him. That said, he and McCray sort of offer the same type of player. Not sure how many M is taking at LB or, more specifically, the bigger LB type.

                  • I guess M will take 3 LBs in this class and are holding a spot for Levenberry? If so, no space for any more after McCray's commitment?

                    • I think that we will take Gedeon and Levenberry, assuming that both want to commit.

I think I heard M will take Odaniel or Gedeon whomever bites first. They will also hold a spot for Levenberry.

I really hope that McCray doesn't jump ship once the cute boy calls him.

                        • I suspect you'll find out about Gedeon this week. If he is in, it will be soon. I think he is definitely leaning that way. Another very good LB class for you guys. Get some speed ends and some CBs and you're set.

                          • McCray is a kid who probably would have committed on the spot, but, for whatever reason UFM thought he was third best in the state.
