Exactly. My rule of thumb is this -- any recruit that flips to Auburn or decides for Auburn late was paid huge piles of cash.

Kudos to M for not engaging in those shenanigans. You didn't lose Diamond b/c of Hoke or the program. You got Trooper'd.

This, by the way, is the shit that ALL coaches know is going on. But the handlers and players are subtle about it, so it's rare to get an overt request for cash. But UFM and Hoke both know exactly why Diamond went to Auburn. And probably could tell similar stories about a lot of other recruits.

Imagine dealing with this in-confernece. *IF* you were a relatively clean coach, imagine trying to compete in the SEC. Mark Richt comes to mind. I also think Florida probably is "relatively" clean -- but probably dirtier than most programs. But, imagine having to deal with the SEC West shenanigans. It wouldn't surprise me if Richt heads for higher ground at some point. Meh, whatever.

I'll tip my cap to Meyer for not falling for the bait that it would have taken to get Diamond. You knew something bad was up when Meyer just flat-out stopped recruiting him.

I can't wait for the day when Auburn gets their dick stomped over stuff like this. I hope they get SMU'd.

When Chizik was hired, it was said because he'd bend over and and let Pat Dye and the most corrupt crowd of "Tiger supporters" in CFB have their way.

Newton was a gem and well worth it. Diamond? Not even close and it shows just how hard up this crowd is.

Man I like that Brady Hoke signing day press conf. thanks for posting that! Really the guy sounds like myself and everything I believe M football and life for that matter stands for, Coach Hoke sounds basically like Coach Carr and you know thats where he got his roots and I respect him for that as well. So glad Michigan football is back to where WE belong!!...

Dont get me started on the Alabama game though...I think it will be rough for M..

UFM's biggest success of the recruiting season might have been cutting ties to a 4* OG.

And, yes, Buchanan, Auburn doesn't reserve their "efforts" for kickass difference-making QBs. From what I've gleened, they're so bad that other SEC West schools complain about them. Heh.

That said, there was an Alabama RB this year that flipped back and forth b/t Bama and Auburn. I can only imagine how much he made.

And finally, we'll find out if all the "experts" on MgoBlog are reading their tealeaves right, as to how Kozan was waiting on Diamond before making his choice known. I hope they're right, 'cuz that points Kozan towards us.


Not so sure he's gonna provide us with anything more than additional depth on the O-Line, but we need that depth right now just as much as we need a quality Center.
