M turned away Tommy Schutt DT (4.5*, from Illinois) from visiting this weekend. He wanted to commit to ND but got beat by Sheldon Day...
Tough to turn away talents like Schutt (top 50 kid by most recruiting services) only if your very confident who else your recruiting is going to choose you or already has. Pretty likely at least one of the DT's on the board told the staff they are going to be a Wolverine. Tea leaves says its likely Pipkens since he's more of a NT with Danny O'Brien more likely a 3-tech...
It was also confirmed earlier in this week by TomVH that Matthew Godin is being recruited for the 3-tech DT position, not SDE. He's already ~270 lbs so that is where I had him projected after his redshirt season anyway...
Still unsure how many more interior d-line players they are taking; could be one more, could be two more (preferably).

I really hope that isn't true. What's the harm in letting a kid visit? Why not take Schutt and another DT? It's not like we have an abundance of good defensive linemen. Schutt has Penn State and Wisconsin on his list, and Pipkens might commit to Alabama.Last edited by Rocky Bleier; August 5, 2011, 08:01 AM.I'll let you ban hate speech when you let me define hate speech.

I'm not particularly high on Godin; I'm firmly in the camp that would love to add two of Pipkens, O'Brien, Schutt and Shittu. Loss of Terry Talbott should've made it possible to take a 3rd DT. Wormley and Stroebel are both potential DT's down the line yet imo both are much more likely to stay at 5-tech, SDE.

In '13 recruiting news, Dymonte Thomas ATH (safety imo) probably won't last too long before joining the Wolverines... Not sure how good of a prospect he is (he should be pretty good to get an offer this early) but the better news might be he is Bri'onte Dunn's cousin. I still see Dunn as a Buckeye unless Ohio gets more than a slap on the wrist; otherwise M will likely battle PSU for his services...
Back to Dymonte, possible M was recruiting Thomas to help them with Dunn; its happens all the time where coaches will recruit a kid in one recruiting class to get a foot in the door of a high school of a blue chipper in the next class.Last edited by WM Wolverine; August 6, 2011, 06:58 AM.
