    • I think the last hurdle Harbaugh has is recruiting a Death Star D-line. Thats the position group that always stands out to me when watching the top SEC teams. WR is 2nd. I’d pay good money to see JJ throwing to Bama/LSU type receivers this season with a running game that can sleepwalk to 200-250 yards a game.

IMHO his last hurdle is developing a goddamn QB. McCarthy has all of the tools but he was mediocre as hell last year and his accuracy was crap.

        • The descriptions of Jaydn Davis sound a lot like Elvis Grbac -- smart as hell dude, great college QB, highly accurate, no arm strength -- but with a little mobility too -- Grbac was the least mobile QB I have ever seen.

I can buy that too. There's a discussion at MGo (which I have not read yet) about whether JJ can break the curse of the sophomore slump (soph. as in 2nd year as starter). I think he certainly can but the lack of high end WRs will lower his ceiling.

            • With a really good OL and a running game and at least competent receivers, Michigan's passing game should be a lot better than it was last year.

And, my kingdom for a QB who can throw a fucking deep ball. We must have broken the NCAA record in the past 8 years for guys overthrowing wide open receivers down the field.

And according to the robust standards of excellence demanded by the recruiting services, Davis' rankings are still falling. He's going to have to have a super HS senior year just to remain a 4 star. I daresay some will drop him to a 3 star before its all over.

So, yeah ... a lot like Grbac. .

                  • You’re onto something Liney. It WAS a grand conspiracy waged by the recruiting services to keep Michigan from signing a 5-star QB. 247 is a noted Wolverine hating website and is probably ran by Ohio State and Michigan State alums. Beyond all doubt, those devious bastards infiltrated the Elite Eleven competition and unjustly lowered his stock simply to shit on M’s class. It’s jealousy. Pure and simple. FULL STOP!

The recruiting “experts” evaluation and fake stars don’t matter AT ALL! What Harbaugh should do is to solely sign 2-star players (which are just as good!) to torpedo the ridiculous recruiting “experts” and put them out of business!

Yeah he did find his deep ball -- excellent timing there.

                      • I didn't say anything about a conspiracy. I merely mentioned that Davis' stock continues to plummet, according to several recruiting services. And, that is true.

You sir, as a highly regarded purveyor of truth should commend me for this.

                        • “Plummet” — to 60th overall.

I’ll bet you as much as you want that — and I daresay — he won’t be a 3* by any service.

And AA wouldn’t mock your ridiculous M conspiracy theory if you haven’t actually advocated that exact thing earlier in this painful discussion.
