  • Spinallis played C in the OB Bowl. I think this was out of necessity as Kugler reportedly rolled an ankle in practice and couldn't play. Ruiz had to play RG with Owenu sliding over to LG ........

Filliaga is huge. Sitting pretty much behind the M bench at the OB Bowl he towers above everyone else. Honigford and Steuber are also big guys but not as big as Filliaga. Spinallis is your typical guard-center body type. He's squat with a big trunk and huge legs.

Runyan looks like a Frey type tackle he's a bit on the small side and supposedly really agile. I focused in on him several plays. He got handled by DEs leveraging him out of the play to make room for a stunting tackle in the C/D-gaps. He also was terrible picking-up back side pursuit. That's his job on outside plays away from the RT. No telling if he's just not good or is poorly coached.

Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

    • This year's waffling between Frey's zones and the Harbaugh/Drevno man approach couldn't have helped. The OL gave Peters enough time on plenty of downs.

Big hopes for Filiaga. Fingers crossed for NPF, though he's not immediate help. Newsome seems unlikely. This is one area where Harbaugh has to make lemonade out of lemons. Just has to.

Problem is that this is the one position where it is most difficult to do

        • I'm a bit worried about the impact on the offensive side of the ball about the impact on recruiting of all these coaching change rumors. In particular, Petit-Frere. Will he follow Frey to FSU?
I haven't heard Drevno to FSU yet. I heard Frey.

Tyler Friday remains one of Michigan's top overall targets.

Here's a look at some Michigan recruiting trends on a scale of very likely to very unlikely.

                    Very Likely
It's VERY LIKELY that Michigan signee Aidan Hutchinson gets a significant bump in the next round of rankings by the Rivals.com staff.

                    MICHIGAN
Currently listed outside of the Rivals250, Hutchinson is a virtual lock to climb well into that range. The 6-6, 266-pounder put on a show at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl last Saturday and registered four tackles and two sacks. He's currently listed as the No. 17 strongside defensive end nationally and the No. 4 player in Michigan but expect both of those standings to improve.

Fellow signees Cameron McGrone and Jalen Mayfield also played well in the Army Bowl and should receive a bump as well. McGrone is barely inside the Rivals250 at No. 238 and Mayfield will likely pick up that coveted fourth star.

                    Likely
It's LIKELY that Ramsey (N.J.) Don Bosco Prep four-star strongside defensive end Tyler Friday ends up committing to Michigan.

The 6-3, 260-pounder is as quiet as they come but more and more buzz is building around him eventually committing to the Wolverines. As the No. 64 overall player in the country, Friday is extremely talented and with his build, he would compliment defensive linemen Aidan Hutchinson and Julius Welschof well.

                    Neutral
Things are still in a NEUTRAL stance between Georgia, Michigan and Michigan commit Otis Reese.

                    MICHIGAN
The 6-2, 195-pounder is currently Michigan's highest ranked commit at No. 42 overall nationally but he's been flirting with the hometown Dawgs for a while. He visited Athens several times throughout the fall and Georgia's trip to the national title game definitely has Reese intrigued.

He recently announced his upcoming official visits without dates there are clearly some heavy hitters on the list.

It definitely seems like a Michigan vs. Georgia battle but anytime programs like LSU and Clemson are involved they must be taken seriously. Reese's older brother plays at Central Michigan and the trip to Mt. Pleasant is likely just a chance to spend some time with big bro and enjoy the process.

                    Not Likely
It's NOT LIKELY that Michigan can convince Mission Viejo (Calif.) High four-star cornerback Olaijah Griffin to head to Ann Arbor.

The 6-0, 172-pound corner and son of Warren G was originally committed to UCLA but decided to open things up after the coaching changes in Westwood. The No. 5 cornerback nationally named Tennessee his leader two weeks after his official visit to Knoxville. Griffin said he thinks he will take an official visit to Florida the weekend of February 2. The schedule for January 12-26 has yet to be set, but Auburn is going to have him on campus one of those three weekends. USC and Michigan are two other teams in the mix and the Trojans are a real player due to location.

It's pretty likely that Griffin will officially visit Ann Arbor but it's going to be a tall task to convince him that U-M is where he should play.

                    Very Unlikely
It's VERY UNLIKELY that Michigan will have a shot with recently offered Tommy Bush out of Schertz (Texas) Clemens.

In fact it's a certainty that they won't. The 6-5, 185-pounder just picked up his Michigan offer within the past month but it's too little, too late. The No. 60 wide receiver in the country recently gave the latest on where things stand with U-M.

"They are out, sir," Bush said of the Wolverines. "There hasn't been any real contact with my family and I understand that since they offered so late. Best wishes to them."

Michigan is now in pursuit of just two wide receivers — Metairie (La.) Rummel four-star Ja'Marr Chase and, to a lesser extent, San Marcos (Calif.) Mission Hills three-star Chris Olave.

                        • I never saw Hutchinson play football in person but if he is anything like he is in Lacrosse you have a good one. That dude is fast. He gave no space to any attackers behind the net, he would just run them out of bounds. He is a long strider that can blaze down the field.
